YHS athletes are required to take a PE class in grades 9-12 even if they play in an interscholastic sport or are taking an athletic conditioning course.  Most schools do not require PE if the student is playing a sport.  YHS is the only school I know of that requires this.  Because of this, students in the 9th and 10th grade are loosing out on an academic elective.  According to the CA state school board, students are able to get PE credit for athletic conditioning/and or playing a sport if the local school board adopts this policy.  Lets insist that our elected school board chooses to do the right thing for our students. Our athletes deserve the opportunity to advance in their academic goals for their future.
