Name: Beth Harris on Jul 7, 2007Comments: I am a professor at Ithaca College and have supported the development of an Arabic language program on my campus as well. It began two years ago. We have had a wonderful teacher and the program has been popular and successful. I am beginning my own Arabic language study as well. Our country is enmeshed with the lives of Arabic speakers in many parts of the world. In addition, the history and cultures of Arabic-speaking people are very relevant to contemporary society. I believe your curriculum will be significantly enhanced with the inclusion of an Arabic language program.Flag

We seem to give a lot of importance to teaching Arabic in Defense Schools but it would be nice to look at Arabic in a different perspective too, not a War language. Knowing languages and other cultures open up minds and establish bridges to build peace in the worldFlag

Ruopp on Jul 7, 2007Comments: I think it would be important to help the Muslim and American worlds better understanding of eachother along with, hopefully, some form of respect towards Americans from our brothers in the Muslim world...plus it would provide these kids with jobs with the state and federal government in the DoD, Justice, and Couter-Terrorism. That is not to say that all Muslims are terrorist, only to highlight the fact that many worldly terror networks happen to be of Muslim backgrounds - where they abuse the means of the Koran to meet their sadistic means.Flag
