Comments: With the recent events in the world that have occured in Arabic countries, as well as a growing Arabic population in America the Arabic language should become an elective. There is a great need in America to understand and include the Arabic citizens of this country as well as recognize thier great contributions to the American quilt. This quilt consist of a rich and diverse patch work that uniquely belongs to America. Only by including the understanding this part of the population can America close the gap that divides many of thier citizens through ignorance by exclution. Let the public school be a bridge to help close that gap by letting our young people fill thier minds with knowledge about the Arab history, culture and language. Give them the oppurtunity to be ambassadors of understanding through the power of Knowledge. Please consider the importance of the Arabic language in the public school sysytem. Help change the world one child at a time.

Comments: I think arabic in the public schools would be a sign that this culture is ready to accept the Arabs and Arabic and that the entire group is not penalize for the actions of a few. There are so many people who were born in countries where the language was soken and had to leave. Their children should have the benefit of both. thank you for the chance to make this happen

Comments: I became a Muslim in high school and I could not tell my family. They would not understand. I wanted to learn Arabic and not spanish. It would have helped me to learn my religion. I did not find anyone to take me to a mosque. it was too far away. I had to wait until I could drive. If Arabic was in my school, it would have helped. Many converts who are young need this., even some Arab kids

Comments: A wider knowledge of the Arabic language among people in the United States would facilitate the building of better and more knowledgeable relationships between the people of America and the Muslim world. This is an example of positive globalization and good inter-cultural and interfaith bridge-building that will benefit not only this nation, but all of humankind.
