Microsoft finally updated their system to allow us to change our billing country without losing our accounts. I am so relieved that we no longer have to abandon our gamertags just because we moved to a new home. Thank you for staying with me through this fix.

Microsoft do not allow users of its popular Xbox Live service to change their billing country, meaning that if they move to another country they often cannot make full use of the service they are paying for. There are numerous problems associated with moving countries with Xbox Live, and Microsoft's official response Create a new gamertag. If you're reading this, then you know starting from scratch is an unreasonable solution, and Microsoft need to resolve this admitted limitation with the billing system. An example of one of the more serious limitations with the service: "I created my gamertag when I lived in Ireland but am now living in the UK, and because the billing system doesn't allow me to change my billing country, I can't use a UK credit card. Obviously I don't have the one I had in Ireland anymore. I have to buy MS points from 3rd party online retailers and games offered via the new Games On Demand service show up in Euros, and because of the exchange rate that means I pay £5 more for a £20 game than if I could pay in my own currency." This problem, and many others like it, are incredible oversights on the part of Microsoft and a serious limitation of the billing system that lots of people feel really needs to be addressed. The bottom line is, people move countries all the time, they shouldn't be expected to start a new gamertag each time they do to make full use of the service they are paying for. If you have been affected by the limitations of the billing system, please sign this petition. This has been a problem for years and Microsoft haven't addressed it yet, a petition may be the only way to get them to take notice.

I am looking at the signature count climbing and it reminds me how many of you are stuck paying extra every time you want to play a game after moving homes. We need to hit one thousand signatures as soon as possible to prove to them that this is a widespread failure of their system.

Seeing one hundred people confirm they have dealt with this same frustration is incredibly validating. It proves my own struggle with my account is far from an isolated incident. I am going to keep pushing until Microsoft finally acknowledges these outdated restrictions.

This is so frustrating. I live in Canada now and my old card expired so now my xbox is basically a paperweight for digital purchases.

Moving from the US to Australia and now I cant buy a single game. Losing all my achievements because I have to make a new account is ridiculous.

Its absolutely insane that they expect us to rebuy everything just because we moved. Worst customer service ever.

I moved to mexico from san diego California and I can not add my bank card at all through xboxlive or xbox.com. I have made purchases (lots of them) with no problem from my same good account. I do use amazon and others with the new issued card for my bank account and xboxlive won't let me after having a live acct from the begginnin of xbox 360. I have spent thousands and now the only option is to get region prepaid cards that might not work simply because my original account is from USA and I moved to mexico!!! I will NOT open a new profile and LOSE access to all the add ons I purchased this is NOT a viable solution. why pay for something if I can not use it? gold will run out in a few months and regrettably so will I and I might just sell the stacks of useless games if I can not use the add ons with my original account I have had through the years please resovle your sloppy regional issues (or ignore the request and lose a loyal customer) I SURRENDER
