151 Joseph NewlandThe uprooting of community institutions in hopes of greater tourist dollars is disruptive--if not quite Faustia--and since the Chinatown/Asian American community has suffered over past decades from similar disruption and displacement, it is especially important that local government and philanthropic organizations fund and support in-neighborhood programs like those in the Gilbert Arts Project. If Philadelphia wants to revitalize its downtown and its reputation, it is crucial to keep in the city such organizations--and support them. Thank you.

165 lindaI've seen these guys perform, they're amazing and a great part of the community. I especially think it's necessary for an outlet for Asian creativity because the culture is very peaceful and unperturbing about it and many parents cannot show their children what this organization is able to represent.

169 Gina PisasaleEstablishing a place for Asian American Arts in the Philadelphia region more than acknowledges the presence of a large (and diverse) Asian American population, it provides a place for both Asian Americans and all other ethnicities to express, learn about, explore, question, and talk about Asian American culture, which is both a personal investigation as well as a highly political conversation. Asian American Artist need a place to provide a constructive nexus for this conversation. They need a place where Asian American art and culture is visible and therefore acknowledged as a significant, valued, and vital part of the community. Unacknowledged, we experience erasure from Philadelphia's arts community.

175 Andi MeyerI strongly urge you as public servants to listen to your constituancy and give your unwavering support to the Gilbert Arts Project. These three organizations, Asian Arts Initiative, Highwire Gallery, and the Institute for Arts in Education are valuable resources for Philadelphia and indeed for the nation. The Asian Arts Initiative is, in fact, one of only a small handful of similar organizations across the country. This makes Philadelphia a National Leader by the mere fact that this company exists. I urge you to continue to put Philadelphia at the nation's forefront of minority business, community, and artistic/cultural support by making the needs of the Gilbert Arts Project and the community driven development of Chinatown a top priority for the city.

187 Carol KentnerThe city of Philadelphia needs to recognize how essential it is to support the diversity of the community. Which can be enhancing the business case statement for the city itself.
