Name: Toni Dang on Nov 30, 2006Comments: I have lived in Philadelphia all of my life and I have to say that AAI is vital to the community. It provides a necessary safe space for many artists who, by virtue of their race, gender, class, sexual orientation, and age, are not recognized for their contributions and whose talents are not nurtured. AAI also provides the wider community with affordable access to the arts which AAI has employed as an authentic and effective vehicle for community empowerment and social change. It is critical that the City of Philadelphia and the State of Pennsylvania support such a dedicated and beloved organization -- a real asset to the community and visitors to the area -- and to allow it to flourish.Flag

Name: Herb Lau on Dec 15, 2006Comments: The arts community is one the strongest yet most underfunded areas of Philadelphia's community. Given that the many of the smaller arts organizations involved are being moved because of a project which involves significant state and city funding, some amount of funding should be directed towards these organizations in their pursuit of a new home and base of operations from which they will continue to enrich our community.Flag
