| 261 | Laurel Farmer | It looks like to me that if the other's can have compassion, What could possible be our problem of helping our people who live and work in our state.
I am sure we are not mis manageing the taxes that is already collected that we can't help our state. |
| 262 | Donna Farmer | This would be a great help for all of the children and that is what I would like see happen. Let's show our love for the children. |

| 264 | Jennifer Lippoli | I have four children. My husband and I are full time students ourselves. Any little bit of break we can get with school supplies helps. |

| 269 | Anonymous | I just shop in another state, we need to get the money to stay in this state... |
| 270 | Anonymous | WV legislators wanted to entice businesses by changing our motto to "Open for Business."
Reinstating the tax holiday is an action that would speak much louder than a large road sign, to both businesses and residents of the state.
It's not secret that WV is a poor state--we rank as one of the lowest states in the country for per capita income. Yet we're one of a handful that doesn't help out the residents and tax payers of this state by offering a tax-free holiday.
The economy is diving and the cost of living is rising. The citizens here need the help. The businesses here need this to stay competitive. The consumers here may be poor, but they aren't stupid. It just makes economical sense for us to make a short drive over the state line to get our goods at a price we can afford.
As a mother of five kids, I'll be driving over the state line to buy school clothes and supplies. The cost of gas will be more than made up in my savings. As a business owner in the state, I'm saddened by knowing the economic impact this will have on the fellow business owners, but as a mother, I have to weigh this against the economic impact shopping here would have on my family.
Please reinstate the holiday for school clothes and supplies and not just energy star products! |
| 271 | Anonymous | My family resides on the Mason Dixon Line, open for buisness is the first and last thing I see on my way to PA to do our school Shoping! Help WV families and business, reinstate! |
| 272 | rebecca marcum | hey i really need to have a free tax weekend. money is tight since all gas prices are up and everythign is high so please being back the tax free weekend...... |
| 273 | Anonymous | Please bring it back. It helps when you have to buy clothes and school supplies for children. |
| 274 | Lori Bennett | This is uncalled for. The governor of WV doesn't care anything about WV or it's people. GET RID OF HIM NEXT ELECTION.. Let's take WV back to the common people. The ones that actually work hard for a living. Give us a break.. WE PAY TAXES on everything else ALL YEAR LONG... Why give our neighboring state all that extra money this weekend. This could really help the economy in WV. |
| 275 | Anonymous | I hope that this petition really helps. It is ridiculous that WV is one of the poorset states and yet we are one of the few that do not get the tax free weekend. It would help MY family and we are a lot better off than most. I could imagine how much of a help it would be for those who have less than we do. Not to mention the fact that WV will now lose a lot of business due to the fact that people, like myself, will be going to our neighboring states to spend money I know I would much rather be giving to my home state. |
| 276 | Laura | i am a teacher in wv and have an 8 yr old daughter who attends the same school where i teach. i was looking forward to the tax free shopping for my daughter as well as shopping for my students. i do not make enough money to purchase things i would like for my students or my daughter. this is terrible that once again i am forced to shop in another state where the tax free weekend is available. |
| 277 | Lori Bohrer | I think it is awful that West Virginia was one of the first to implement such a great plan and then abandoned it after only one year. Those of us in the Eastern Panhandle have similar border issues to Bluefield. Winchester, Va is on 20-30 minutes south of us. |
| 278 | tina infinger | we need this break... |
| 279 | John L Ford | |
| 280 | Sue | I think it is just truely ridiculous that Wv has to be so greedy and not want to help the lower income families. As a native of Wv I am ashamed to tell people I am from Wv |
| 281 | Rose Keesecker | I feel that we in WV need a break. I know I sure could use the help with school clothes and supplies. |
| 282 | bradley payne | this would be a big help to me and my daughter.
i am disabled stroke survivor whith very little xtra money |
| 283 | DONNA MORRIS | THE TAX HOLIDAY IS A BIG HELP TO ALL WEST VIRGINANS WITH LIMITED MEANS AND THAT DO NOT QUALIFY FOR CLOTHING VOUCHERS. PLEASE CONSIDER REINSTATING THE TAX FREE HOLIDAY IT IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER NOW WITH GAS PRICES AS HIGH AS THEY ARE. |
| 284 | Lisa | It helps out the families that barely afford to purchase clothing for their children to go back to school, especially in poverty stricken areas. |

| 288 | Jamie Lane | Being paid the little amount of money I do get from my job (having a 4 year college degree gets you NOTHING in this state unless you're in the medical field). I live paycheck to pay check. Give me a chance to keep a little change in my pocket. |
| 289 | Teresa Hodge | I wish that WV would reinstate tax free weekend. WV has low-income families that are not eligible for the clothing vouchers. I was denied and I still do not have clothing for my children. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| 290 | Anonymous | These days it would make a difference to have the tax break. |
| 291 | Lesley Crockett | This will only help the economy and give west virginia residents a break for once. |
| 292 | Andrea Whiting | In a state as poor as WV I find it hard to believe that there is not a tax free weekend for back to school items. Shame on you WV goverment !!!! |
