Name: Edouard Lagache on Feb 6, 2007Comments: There was only one West Side Logging Company. It is literally known World-wide by those who have any interest in Railroading and Model Railroading. Surely that historical value should be of interest for anyone seeking to create something to draw tourists like a Casino. Why simply draw tourists from just California, instead of Canada, Europe, the rest of the United States, etc.Flag

Name: Jerry R. Larsen on Feb 6, 2007Comments: I have fond memories of the West Side starting with a trip as a 11 year old in 1956 and my dad having a meeting with Fred Ellis while I watched a Heisler work the transfer with the Sierra from the car in front of the West Side office. I later meet Francis Cottle and on a minor basis helped him with the Westside and Cherry Valley RR. Tuolumne City and the surrounding area are deepley imbeded on my mind. I have to admit I am a golfer but would re-route a course to save the history! JerryFlag

It is all part of our heratage. People seem to be OK with saving any old spannish or english buildings, why not our railroadsFlag

Name: Bruce W. Lodge on Feb 7, 2007Comments: As a fairly new resident in the Tuolumne City area I have quickly become interested in the history of the community - especially the West Side Lumber Company. I feel it is crucial that we do all we can to preserve the few remaining physical manifestations of the vibrant Tuolumne past. Doing so will only add to the quality of life area residents enjoy in the future. We know the importance Native Americans place on the preservation of their rich and often tragic past. I am confident that their understanding of the importance of the past will guide their decision making and efforts when it comes to helping to preserve the history of the Tuolumne City community and the West Side Lumber Co.Flag

Name: Sandy Coots on Feb 7, 2007Comments: I think it is of great importance to preserve this operation not only as a way of life and the audacity by the method by which the logs were moved to the mill. Crude by todays standards, note worthy in that it was/is not needed to be perfect to do a job day in day out.Flag

Name: Clyde R.Putman on Feb 9, 2007Comments: Westside is an important historical document for a lot of reasons. It is a name that I heard over and over as I was growing up with an interest in trains and later historic preservation. It would mean a lot to be able to say about Westside "is" rather than "was".Flag

Name: Richard J Blake on Feb 10, 2007Comments: I am in full support of preserving the history of the West Side Logging Co. Railroad as it is vitally important to historians, train enthusiasts and model railroaders. A benefit to all will be realized with the proposals for preservation in increasing tourism and expanding demographics in the region. It is a win win proposal for all parties involved. Please support this plan and keep the WSLC from fading into nothing but history books.Flag
