Name: Vincent F. Pellitteri on Feb 3, 2007Comments: The West Side Lumber Company served as an important player in the history of logging and railroading in the United States. It also served as an important economic factor in the Tuolumne area. It behooves us to retain some of that history so future generations can see some of that history first hand.Flag

Name: Frank Markovich on Feb 3, 2007Comments: I actually have a cabin in Twain Harte. I fondly remember the Westside and go to view the place on a regular basis, also stopping at the casino on many of the trips. Our heritage in California is very important and saving the buildings or at least part of them and the logging history is important. The Westside was a key business in the area that helped support the town and the area, to lose any part of that would be tragic. Thank you, Frank MarkovichFlag

Name: Steve Borges on Feb 3, 2007Comments: I really wish the original Westside buildings could be saved and rebuilt in their current locations. There are many golf courses around but how many remnants of a railroad that started or fostered a town. I guess a museum of any kind is better than everything going under the wrecking ball but I would prefer to see more effort into preservation of the original site. The WS mill site is sacred ground to many railfans throughout the world and it's too bad it can't be treated as such.Flag

Name: Kevin V. Bunker on Feb 4, 2007Comments: As an ex-Northern Californian, railroad and lumber historian who has seen, ridden and known the latter-day West Side Lumber Co. railroad, and seeing its legacy slip slowly away altogether, I ardently support well-planned and properly funded local history West Side preservation efforts. I especially wish to see a revived and thriving West Side railroad as a living history museum on wheels that can both teach and entertain visitors to the Tuolumne area and surrounding region.Flag

Name: John R. Swiger on Feb 4, 2007Comments: The West Side Lumber Company's history is Tuolumne's history, as well as a big part of Tuolumne County's. Those who have worked for the West Side and helped to build the town deserve to have their story preserved.Flag
