I have been metal detecting since 1976, always remove and discard all types of trash including broken glass bottles. I am mostly a water hunter and would love to be able to metal detect in Texas State Park swimming areas, in the water only. Thank you.Flag

Name: Bruce Myers on Nov 15, 2011State: TexasCountry: United StatesComments: The metal detecting community is by large an environmentally friendly and thoughtful group of people. The overwhelming majority of us realize that if we tear up the ground without respect to others and the land itself, it would shed a negative view of our hobby. Please consider opening Texas state parks on a permit basis much like yearly fishing and hunting type licenses.. It would establish rules and penalties as well as generating income for the state.Flag

Name: Carey Mousseau on Jan 17, 2012State: TexasCountry: United StatesComments: I am really discouraged by the fact that people are outsude enjoying a hobby they love and the government has to regulate it?! Really? As a nurse I sit back and watch the population get fatter and fatter from poor nutritional choices and lack of exercise! So some want too get outside and do something healthy and the government has too make it against the law! Really? Whats next? No kite flying, no frisbee throwing. If its that crucial that you have control over it then charge a fee for entrance in too the state parks.....oops, you already do that don't you? You're taking away basic rights toi live freely! I thought thats what the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was all about? Hmmmm maybe not.......VERY dissapointed....:-!Flag

Name: Joe Escobar on Mar 16, 2012State: TexasCountry: United StatesComments: You should allow us to detect on state parks and write policies and guidelines to use and protect the land and the people who enjoy this hobby. We just don't metal detect we are also historian's and archeologists who know how to respect our lands and it's history. Protect it from the people that trash it and destroy it. And allow the people that will take care of it and look for the history of our country one relic and one coin at a time.Flag
