Name: Debbie Still on Dec 28, 2002State: MOCountry: USComments: Dear Sir; I'm an avid metal detectorist and do visit your fine state. I sure would like to see the Director of Texas State Parks & Park Commission reconsider the use of metal detectors. Metal detecting is a very benificial hobby, good exercise and Fun for the whole family. We enjoy this great hobby, we also help out others, like police (for recoveries) and people in destress that have lost a sentimential item, ring etc. I myself have helped others. I "pass it forward", with a smile.. hope you do! Thank-you for your time, Debbie StillFlag

We return jewelry to the owners when they can be identified. Metal detecting is integral with our vacation plans, so please reconsider your law prohibiting their use.Flag

Name: Jack Snow on Dec 28, 2002State: INCountry: USComments: I feel recreational metal detecting should be allowed in your State Parks. Most Detectorists are respectful, not destructive and obey all laws. Most have and follow a code of ethics and consideration should be given. Thank you!Flag

Name: Frank Tokar on Dec 29, 2002State: NYCountry: USComments: What damage is digging up pulltabs and an occasional old coin going to do, as long as they aren't tearing up the grass. Those who are so preduced against the hobby should really tell us what it is that they are afraid of instead of hiding behind the excuse that some archeological site is going to be ruined. As long as it's a safe recreation, public parks shouldn't discriminate against it unless there's a valid and HONEST reason.Flag
