| 1302 | Andreanne Tremblay | Please do something about the roads. I'm a student who resides in Sudbury, and each day it gets very frustrating trying to avoid potholes, as well as all the other blemishes that causes so many problems. Please don't wait till you have an angry mob at your front door. Just act. |
| 1303 | Naomi Bisson | I am an outreach worker for ICAN which involves driving all over Greater Sudbury. I am very dissapointed in the maintenance of our roads and as a tax payer i wonder where our tax money is going. Not only is there huge potholes everywhere but there isn't even warning signs for these potholes. So far my car needs barrings and ball joints, i'm surprise that my front end insn't finished...I love my job and I enjoy proving care for individuals but I wonder sometimes if it's all worth it considering the money i now need to spend to repair my car. |
| 1304 | Dan Nykilchuk | As a gateway to Northern Ontario, the appearance of our community is regarded as a window into what the north has to offer.
The appearance of our roads sends a resounding message that we in the north are very much behind the rest of the province in terms of development and quality of life.
As a native Sudburian who has returned to the city after a number of years living elsewhere, I find the condition of all of our roads to be an abbarasement to everyone living here and in Northern Ontario in general.
We can longer be satisfied with what we have. Lets change our image and create a city that we can be proud of. One that is truly representative of the people of the north. |
| 1305 | Tammy Kuhn | I have great hopes that Sudbury can become the city we all want. Let's start with Great Pathways to our Great City. |
| 1306 | Roxanne Grandmaison | I was sick of the roads after visiting for 4 days! I can only imagine what it's like to have to live with those driving conditions every day! It's ridiculous! |

| 1311 | Meghan Hoffberg | I've had to replace parts to my car that the mechanics have said are because of potholes and road conditions. To the point where I've actually had my tire (wheel, and break) come off of my car while driving home (to Brampton) and could have caused major accidents/death. We were lucky that we were not on hwy. 400, but a 6 lane road, where the tire hit no one, and no one hit us since they were able to avoid us. This was caused by the constant hitting of potholes and the wear and tear it causes. I really hope it doesn't take someone dying to avoid hitting a pothole to get the proper attention addressed to this issue.
I've come to Sudbury to go to Laurentian University, yet have considered leaving this beautiful city because I can't afford to maintain my car while living here. I'm just lucky during the winter all the snow covers up the holes, and I head back home to nice roads once school is done in April. For my program I have to drive to Garson to tutor a student, and from campus I can tell you the drive is not safe, not fun, since the roads are in such a bad condition. I watch people hit the pot holes I know about and then cut me off to get out of that lane. For my next placement I'm in Levack, and I'm not looking forward to driving from Laurentian to Levack, as I know there will be many more problems with my car, and it is becomming dangerous to drive on the roads here.
Enough is enough, this problem has really reached a determental affect. I know my parents will do their best to not come to Sudbury because of the roads, My mom has had back and neck surgery and she can't handle the bumps to that car.
This issue is hurting your economy, just my parents alone are two people who would eat at a nice restaurant, go shopping, see a show, watch a hockey game, go to Science North, and stay in a hotel. This is just one example how not fixing this problem has cost the city.
Fix the roads .. you are losing enough money in other revenue that if you fix the roads, you'll notice more people out of their houses, spending their money. |
| 1312 | Jessica Lamarche | It's about time someone got this started. They keep telling us they'll be fixed but the damn potholes get bigger! How many more deaths is it gonna take before they fix the roads??? |

| 1315 | Cheryl Duhaime | I wrote a letter to the City 2 yrs ago hoping I would get a reply. I asked that they read my letter at the BIG meeting that week concerning Sudbury roads. I am moving back in June after being away for 28 years. If it wasn't home I would seriously think of living elsewher. There is no excuse for the condition of our roads. |

| 1317 | Sammy | Our roads are like driving on bomb fields. Swerving in and out to miss them is very dangerous. Should you hit one, god help your car!
Goodbye struts. People should start sending their repair bills to the city, maybe then they'll take more of an interest in repairing the pot holes. |
| 1318 | Julie Hillson | Lansing Ave is terrible. |
| 1319 | Anonymous | I refused to go to university in sudbury because of the crap-tacualr condition of the roads in and around Sudbury |
| 1320 | Sue Ross | This comment is addressed towards Mr. Bartolucci and Mr. Rodriguez. You seriously have to put money repaving the roads never mind fixing....it's beyond fixing at this point. I have been a Sudbury tax payer for a lot of years. I have never in my lifetime seen the roads this bad as they are now. |
| 1321 | Stephanie Getchell | I'm still waiting on a reply from getting my car fixed... Come on Greater Sudbury PAY UP..... |

| 1325 | Russ Thom | My daughter from North Bay was complaining about the roads there until she drove to Sudbury last week. The roads in North Bay look really good now! |

| 1329 | Bruce Mikkila | By saving us each $50 per year in our taxes, council is costing us each $500 in car repairs. Do the math. Once council starts fixing roads properly and starts saving me money in car repairs, then they can talk to me about sports complexes and theatre centres. |
| 1330 | Patty Mikkila | What can be said? The roads are terrible and are our number 1 issue. |
| 1331 | ron keast | who's going to pay for damages to are cars if the roads are not fixed, "properly", pot hole petrol is a waste of money. |
| 1332 | Dave Ivory | In most cases the repairs are as bad or worse than the original pothole. The snowmobile trails are smoother than most of our roads. Maybe we should let the Sudbury Trail Committee look after our roads. Even the new 4 lane Kingsway has started to heave. Are the contractors not responsible for their work and made to stand behind it? This condition is pathetic, yet they feel we need a sports complex to attract out of town visitors. What makes them believe people would come from out of town to attend anything, with our roads in this condition? |

| 1334 | Anonymous | the really sad thing is that we pay taxes (extortion) to drive on these roads property extortion (tax) gas extortion (tax) ROAD extortion (tax) etc... You think the politicians even care??? HELL NO. They lie steal cheat and we are so stupid we jus keep paying the EXTORTION (tax). The reason why i call tax extortion is because thats what it is Sudbury has no EXTORTION MONEY to repair roads But can afford ELTON JOHN concert tickets, LOL |
| 1335 | Wayne Jeffkins | |
| 1336 | Beverley | Our roads are simply horrible. There has to be
some major work done. The Pot Hole repair is
just not cutting it !!!!! |
| 1337 | Lyle Denny | My relatives were visiting from Vancouver Island in the summer of 2007, and they wanted to leave asap from bumps and potholes from the new hospital to the older hospital.
Thye wanted to go back to BC where a hole in the road is no bigger then a few inches.
When we moved here May of 2007, we wanted to move right away from the bumps. I am a service advisor at Canadian tire, and have seen thousands of dollars in tire repairs/replacement, suspension repairs etc just from Sudbury roads. My wife and I went down to Barrie a week ago, and as soon as we were 15 mins outside of Sudbury city limits, the roads were smooth, all the way down to Barrie. I myself have had major repairs done. I blew an axle in my car, at the same time blowing a tire, bending a rim so bad it broke a peice off. But why complain, Sudbury officials could care less.
And the pothole repairs guys that go around and attempt to fix the holes, do a terrible job. In BC, they actually spend time fixing the issues, not throwing down old ashfault, paking it down with their feet, and then drive away... The job they do justy washes away.
Now, in Hanmer on Notre Dame, they actually shaved the road away all together. They are fixing holes now on the previous ashfault.
I know a few weeks ago, the road near the airport was missing as well.. currently the shoulders are smoother. I've been on smoother logging roads. I drive offroad more then on-road, and driving on road is now calling for a 4x4.
My wife and I love it here, but are honestly moving to Barrie because the repair bills for our vehicle have been too much. I had a brand new Civic when I moved here. Sold it within a month, because where ever I drove, I would be mising body panels, and I'm not even joking.
Fix the roads, or else this town will see roughly
$3700 in repair bills. |
| 1338 | Anonymous | Our roads are terrible...stop spending foolishly and spend on our roads. |
| 1339 | Ashley | THE ROADS ARE NASTY!!!!!! WRECK UR CAR OR TRUCK OR VAN DRIVING!!!!!!!!!! |

| 1345 | Amanda Desbiens | I have noticed way to many pot holes, and my struts, and shocks are shot on my Jeep!! Our roads need to be fixed. |
| 1346 | GILLES BELANGER | |
| 1347 | Andrea O'Brien | Our roads are a disgrace! We should be ashamed. Get rid of half the cold-pack repair crew and fix some of these problems permanently, |
| 1348 | Jeff Vance | No more filling it the pot holes - let's actually fix the roads. |
| 1349 | Anonymous | Sudbury roads are horrible! |
| 1350 | Sarah St. Michael | My name is Sarah St. Michael and I am a twenty year old student attending Laurentian University. While driving down Paris Street on January 27, 2008 I drove over one of the many pot holes near St. Joseph's hospital. I lost control of my car due to damages to my tire rod and as a result, ended up flying over a snow bank and hitting an elderly woman's tree in her front yard. I thank God that I was not hurt and that the woman's property was not damaged. I was not speeding or driving carelessly at the time of the accident - I was only trying to make my way home after a long day. A police officer came to the scene of the accident and after speaking to an eye witness who confirmed my story, he deemed that I had not been driving carelessly and that the accident was caused by my damaged vehicle. My car, was written off by my insurance company and I was forced to buy another one.
Every day that I drive in this city it is a challenge. I cringe every time I drive over a pot hole, always wondering if history will repeat itself. The roads in Greater Sudbury are pathetic. Considering this is the largest city in northern Ontario, our roads should be atleast up to par with other cities. Try driving down the Kingsway towards Highway 17 in the right lane - either you hit the potholes or risk getting side swept by another vehicle trying to get around them.
Although there is a similar story like this for every road in Greater Sudbury, the worst in my opinion is Lamothe by LaSalle High School and Cambrian College. Every time I drive over this road I feel like I am in a war zone, driving over deserted terrain where small bombs have been dropped. Its condition is absolutely terrible.
The road conditions in Greater Sudbury are horrible and should be priority number one for the city. How are citizens of Sudbury supposed to get out and enjoy what this city has to offer when we are afraid of ruining our cars by simply driving them? I await my first tune up of my new car and unfortunately I know that due to driving in Greater Sudbury I will need to produce a lot of money to keep my car in top shape. It's time for some action and commitment. The people of Greater Sudbury deserve decent roads.
