Matthew Brown | I want to say that I had a Very good Talk with Shelly the other day when she handed me some information in regards to this very Issue and I am in every way aginst it. I have lived in Woodfin for 20 years My parents and grandparents also reside here in woodfin and my family has been here for at least 70 years if not more I am very glad to say that I am a very proud supporter in this effort becuase of Global warming and for health reasons to our most vulnerable citizens in this area and in surronding communites I will support you in any and every effort that is needed to stop this power plant from coming to our town limits. sincerly yours, Matthew Brown
Andrea massell | We already have way too many polluting facilities within our neighborhood and do not want another one added to the list. This is not necessary for our area and the land you are seeking would be better used for a habitat for the wild animals that are seeking refuge because of all the excessive building that is going on within this area.Building a power plant in this location would simply be a selfish action on the part of those greedy, self-serving individuals who don't live in this area and who would not have to experience the horror of it all in the homes far away from these pollutants of sound as well as air quality (not forgetting the visual eyesore.

Anonymous | Surely if alternate energy sources are available, they would be preferable to all the citizens of Buncombe and the surrounding counties.
Austin Bales | We do not need another power plant to pollute the blue ridge fresh air, and this power plant would also reduce the visibility and this would make things more hazy.
Anonymous | We need to be more energy efficient instead of building more power plants! Any NEW plants should be wind, solar, or otherwise renewable/sustainable for our common future. Clean air is human rights issue. Everyone deserves clean air to breath. This plant is not necessary.
Krista | Stop the woodfin power plant!
Nancy Hayes |
Mark Strasser | I support the community working with the government to come up with the best solution.
leah cameron | education on conservation needs to happen first
Darrell Barry | Suffering from emphysema, I am dismayed to see the clean air of WNC degrading so quickly to such frightening, dangerous pollution levels! We must do something now to protect the future health of all citizens!

Kimberly Kensinger | It is important to concern ourselves with alternative energy sources that will not contribute to further contamination of our planet. I have petitioned the government for a very long while to see that they release the real status of the environmental report and now that they have finally started to discuss it...I am sad to see that no one is listening. Furthermore, history has shown (in Asheville) that every plant built along the French Broad River has ultimately been flooded and is the reason that Asheville became a tourist town instead of an industrial town. You might consider that your investment is not very wise...Because if you can't consider the environment...I am sure to be the first one to laugh in your faces when the French Broad River floods your company away. Invest in something worthwhile and if the only thing you can think about is the money...you might want to think about building it somewhere else. Please think about using a cleaner source of energy.
Marcello Aurelio Lanfranchi | I am disgusted by this back-room deal. Rest assured, the County Commissioners will answer to the voters!
Freda Barry |
| 74 | Linda Pannullo | A recent report showed that the US could become independent of oil by using 60% conservation and 40% renewable resources by 2050. Renewable energy is the future, not fossil fuels or nuclear energy. The decision to grant Progress permission to build an energy plant was done wihtout adequate research for alternatives and input from citiizens. We can do better than this to preserve the quality of air and water in our region.
Thank you |
Arlene Brown | Why is our thinking going backwards instead of forward?
Stuart Roper | STOP the proposed Woodfin oil-fired power plant! If we are going to be responsible to our future, then when do we take that first step... I say NOW, by stopping this plant!
Anonymous | We say stop theOIL BURNING power plant in woodfin!
Jeffrey Riney | NO MORE FOSSIL FUEL!
Mark Clevenger | Come on folks. No real need for this. Conserve, and use alternative (wind and solar).

Ed McNally | I strongly oppose construction of any fossil fuel power plant. Our world and our health is being harmed by air pollution and global warming that is caused by such power plants. We need to develop renewable and clean sources of power now. Such alternative approaches are in our reach now...
Sharee McPeters | We live directly across from the old landfill and really do not like the idea of the power plant going in the area. The emissions and the cost seem outrageous. We all know that this type of plant directly affects health and raises concerns about allergies, asthma and birth defects. I hope that the town will take a stand and vote agains this impact. Why can we not have something nice in the Woodfin area? We've had an influx of new development and this would be a bad scenario for all homeowners value.

| 89 | Julia Nowlin | Commissioners, Watch over our natural resources
We have but one, Beaver Lake, French Broad River,
Mountains and one of the oldest pre-civil war homes within 3 miles of the PGN site. Are we so desperate for more Power? I think not, make the right choice. Your Fathers before you would not have had to make this choice but, rest assured if they did they would have said Progressive we're going to pass on your offer. All will be better for it including you and your children and future generations to come. Also let's not forget tourism is a major revenue and PRISTINE is what they come to enjoy. These hills deserve better. |

Lauren Biehl | Woodfin as well as the rest of the planet could only benefit positively from endorsing a clean and renewable energy source to power our own sections of the global neighborhood. We will not tolerate or support the building or use of this oil-fired Progress plant or any other expensive and non-renewable power source. Period.
