By restricting abortion to 20 weeks, women and their families will no longer have the benefit of tests that typically are performed later in pregnancies showing genetic or developmental anomalies. The arbitrary 20-week cutoff robs families of the ability to make informed decisions.
The bill itself is unconstitutional because it directly contradicts Roe v. Wade; and, overturning Roe v. Wade is the anti-choice movement's goal. Every member of Congress needs to hear from pro-choice constituents like you. Even if your lawmaker is anti-choice, we need you to speak out against this bill now. There are 184 co-sponsors to H.R. 1797, including 180 Republicans and 4 Democrats.
