Please sign the petition to protect Women, Infants, and Children from the Government shut down and fully reinstate and grant immunity to USDA programs that provide nutrition, baby formula, Headstart programs, and free school lunch nationwide.
During the government shut down effective October 1, 2013, over 9 million low income women are at risk of being without the food and nutrition services offered by the federal program WIC (Women, Infants, and Children).Women 4 WIC is an online community organization to bring awareness to the collateral attack on women at the price of political gain and to start initiatives to help nationwide. Because of the drawn out war over the Affordable Health Care Act, Congress has failed to pass a budget and effectively shut down the government and many service provided to low-income women such as WIC. Over 9 million low-income women depend on the $9 billion annually allocated to the program from the fiscal budget passed by Congress. Women 4 WIC wants the collateral attack on women as a result of partisan politics to end. We will campaign for Women, Infant, and Children programs to be fully reinstated nationwide also by doing small food and formula drives and giving proceeds to any woman who has been denied WIC services, as much as supplies permits. I started this Community with hopes that Women nationwide would stand up of self-sufficiency and not government dependency and do whatever can been done to aide low-income mothers in their fight to feed their children. Regardless of how short or how long the government shut down lasts, we should fight for the right for women to feed their children regardless of the political climate. We advocate legislation to protect mothers and children from the political battlefield by making programs such as this immune from any government shut down.
