Local Central Florida FoodTrucks have lined the street in front of Windermere City Hall on a monthly basis since February 2011. Windermere is a great community, the FoodTrucks enjoy the people and coming out to this monthly event. Starting November 2013, The Windermere Downtown Business Committee has decided to increase the fee for this monthly Food Truck night from $95 to $150 (charged per truck), a 58% increase (200% increase since Feb 2011). This petition is against the rate increase for this monthly Windermere FoodTruck night for many reasons; 1.) $150.00 is too costly, we have no guarantee on sales. The service time of this event is 4 hours (530-930pm). $150 fee is typical of an all day or multiple day event.
2.) Many uncontrollable factors effecting sales & limiting service times such as weather and holidays. The fees are paid in advance regardless of how much we sell and no refunds - FoodTrucks take all the risk.
3) Keeping fees charged to FoodTrucks reasonable within industry standards.
4.) Increasing costs will only cause a trickle down effect to the customer, causing FoodTrucks to charge more leading to a costly consumer experience and less attendance.
An additional $50 bucks may not seem like much to most people, but as a FoodTruck (Small Business Owner) every dollar counts. In addition to any vendor fee paid, the FoodTruck absorbs the costs of employees, gas, food, prep time & maintenance - all before even getting to the event.
By signing this petition you are against this rate increase and agree not to attend this event if fee becomes $150.00. Help us work with the City of Windermere and come to a solution together.
