Please bring back the smiles and giggles of a joyous tradition at Willowcreek that is THE most favorite of the holiday celebrations.Flag

Name: Kathy L. Kuhn on Oct 10, 2007Comments: Children are already forced to grow up too soon in this society...come on, let them celebrate the one holiday that they can enjoy, as only a child can! I'm sure some of their parents would be happy to help chaperone for the hour you would allow them to be costumed if safety is an issue!Flag

Name: Kathleen Hochstedt on Oct 10, 2007Comments: Children grow up too fast in this "robot" world: please allow festivities to excite the child in the children.Safety precautions can be an effective way to also TEACH about the same. My three sons went to district 68 some time ago and had costumes on Halloween....they are all(3), self employed business men and continue to serve the public....maybe it is because their social skills were developed in part by the normal celebration of well known "holidays"Flag

I think some adjustments were needed as we move forward but some are just ridiculous. I think little kids wearing costumes to school is a fun and harmless thing for the kids to get excited about. I think the school can make certain rules about the kinds of costumes such as costumes in bad taste. I remember looking forward to wearing a costume to school when I was in K- 8th grade. I think the rule should be changed back to allowing the kids to wear a costume on Halloween.Flag

Name: Wendy Vallo on Oct 10, 2007Comments: I am all for having the kids wear costumes for Halloween. The school has robbed the kids of saying Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. This is America and I am all for the other cultures and religions, but they should not be changing what we have had installed for years and years! Either conform or don't participate.Flag

Name: Leslie Hansen on Oct 11, 2007Comments: Although my kids are in high school and college now, they both attended Willow Creek when they were younger. Some of their (our) fondest memories were of when the kids were allowed to take their costumes to school and wear them for their halloween parties. That is simply a part of childhood and of growing up. At least it always was in America. But then, the America I grew up in and raised my kids in seems to be changing and not for the better. Let the kids have this back.Flag

Name: Gail Stanger on Oct 11, 2007Comments: THis is ridiculous. Hallowen never carried an evil or ominous meaning. It's a time for the children to express themselves, dress up as their heroes, be it scary or not. My children are all grown but as an active room mom for many many years the halloween parties were the best and most fun. It is a sad time we live in but maybe we should just go back to the old times when times meant nothing more than having fun. Mrs. G StangerFlag

Name: Jennifer Vander Kooi on Oct 11, 2007Comments: I have been very unhappy about the holiday changes that have happened at WC over the past several years. I would like to remind everyone making these decisions that Halloween is NOT a religious holiday and Christmas celebrated in the secular ways of Christmas trees and Santa is NOT religious either. It is just the spirit of giving and kindness to our neighbors that grew out of a Christian holiday that is actually celebrated on an originally pagan holiday. Things have been blown way out of proportion here and in our nation and I encourage it to stop here at Willow Creek. JVKFlag

Name: Donna Hunsinger on Oct 12, 2007Comments: Let's not rob children of their most favorable memories of Halloween. I think all children should have the opportunity to celebrate in this holiday. If their families do not celebrate then they can just stay home for the day. The school keeps the children safe everyday, so this should not be any different. Also if we take away Halloween whats next ChristmasFlag

Name: Jackie Jones on Oct 15, 2007Comments: Children should be allowed to wear their costumes to school during the Halloween season. So many children look forward to having their parents watch them parade around the school to show off their costumes. Yes, the costumes should be appropriate. However, there are always brochures about safety during the Halloween season. The school would be the safest place for the children to enjoy Halloween.Flag
