The petition

Internet blocking was implemented in Anderson County Schools after the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) was signed into law in December 2000. Because of this law, school systems are required to control internet access in order to receive federal E-Rate discounts on technology-related products. ACS blocks sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and even image search sites, such as Google and Yahoo Images. In an effort to promote reliable information and the school system's paid services, such as the Grolier Online system, they have blocked Wikipedia, a much-used resource among teachers and students. The school officials believe that Wikipedia provides false information and is unreliable, while actually it "can be an excellent starting place for further research." This petition was started to bring back the use of Wikipedia in Anderson County Schools. We do the work, let us choose the source.
