| 302 | Ryan Lester | There’s still a chance that the Revolution will happen. Although I have no hope of Nintendo ever changing the name, I still have hope that the name change may not matter.
I sent the following to Nintendo in order to try and make my idea become a possibility:
“Since a lot of people don't like the new name of the Nintendo Revolution: The "Wii," I think that, in the Wii's system settings, there should be an option to have the system always referred to as the Revolution instead of the Wii, so the system can still officially be titled "Wii," but people who don't like the name can still pretend it's called the "Revolution." I actually know of some people (including myself) who will still refer to the system as the "Revolution." Also, there should be some vinyl skins for the system that cover up the new Wii logo and have the old Revolution logo instead. Although I personally don't like the name "Wii" (I think it's kind of funny though, and my friend and I were joking about it earlier today), I still think it would be better for "Wii" to be what the system is referred to worldwide than "Revolution," since, from what I've heard, it's hard to say in other languages or with non-Western accents (even though I think there will be a bit of confusion in English-speaking and French-speaking countries with people who don't know about the system or its name.”
I sent the following to a few sites that make and sell vinyl skins for video game consoles:
“Since most people, including myself, really hate the new name of the Nintendo Revolution: The "Nintendo Wii," when it is finally released, you should start releasing skins with the old Revolution logo that cover the new Wii logo, so people can just pretend that the name was never changed at all. If enough people find out about this site, I think most Wii owners will want to get a skin that makes their Wii look like what it was really meant to be: The Nintendo Revolution.”
Stop just complaining about the name and take action. Send similar comments to Nintendo and some video game console vinyl skin-making companies. Start a petition or a few petitions to have my ideas done (I haven’t done this because I haven’t had any time, but I might do it later, or sign one if I find one that exists). FIGHT THE POWER!!! (It’s fun to say that, even when it’s not relevant). |
| 303 | Eddie Lin | a revolution is a great attention grabber
but "wii" just castes out all of the goths, emos, most street ballers like me. |

| 305 | Anonymous | WTH is up with the name Wii?
"Mommy, I'm just going upstairs to play with my Wii"
You get me?
Change the godamn name back! |
| 306 | Hugo | I'm don't really play games, but I feel VERY sorry for the die-hard Nintendo fans right now. To maintain their allegiance they're going to have to defend this atrocity of a name, and pretend "it's not that bad", when anyone with 0.001% common sense can clearly see, it's an extinction level event for the console and maybe even the company. I also feel sincerely sorry for the engineers who spent months of hard work and dedication designing and building this ground-breaking system, only for a handful of marketing pen pushers to destroy their creation with one word. Thank heavens I'm not into gaming, or this would *really* get my heckles up. |
| 307 | marcell | sucks a lot! |
| 308 | Matt | BOOOO |
| 309 | Justin Griffin | i'm a retail manager for a video game store, and i'll tell you quite honestly, the name change has done nothing but hurt fans of the nintendo systems. a lot of them have jumped the loyalty ship to sony or microsoft. |
| 310 | Lil' Bunny Girl | Oh lordy, Nintendo, what have you done this time? Why not just call it "The Piss" and be done with it?
I'm definitely not going to stop calling it the Revolution, even long after it's launch. |
| 311 | OdoruKousagi | If pronunciation was a problem for The Revolution over in Japan, why not just change the name to Kakumei? Even if they just called it the Kakumei over in Japan, and kept it the Revolution over here, that would've worked out much better than making it the Wii. Just a thought... |
| 312 | James | You suck Nintendo, don't do this to us |
| 313 | Kylan | Change it back!!!! |
| 314 | Maxime Lamarre | Please nintendo! Change this name ! |
| 315 | Anonymous | |
| 316 | Maximilian Willson | They did so much right, don't screw it up at the name. |
| 317 | Anonymous | This name is so stupid it should be changed to something cool like I don't know, maybe...THE NINTENDO REVOLUTION!!! |
| 318 | Anonymous | Just saying 'wii' makes me want to piss.
The new console from Nintendo, *flush*. |
| 319 | Anonymous | this name is horrible, how can i tell my freind with a straight face they should all come over and we can play with my wii? I have a ds now but i won't buy this thing until the name changes. |
| 320 | Victor Lam | stupiest name ever |
| 321 | Dopefish | Revolution was a perfect name, why change it for something as stupid as this ? |
| 322 | Ky | nintendo, listen to your god damn fans for once! |
| 323 | Dan Basile | REVOLUTION RULES!!!! Wii DROOLS!!! |
| 324 | Anonymous | |
| 325 | Mistie | It's still hard to believe that a group of people all agreed to this stupid name for a game console. |
| 326 | Anonymous | Hoo, what an immature name. |
| 327 | Anonymous | Wii the people of the United States of America are not all children. Wii didn't grow up with adult titled systems like the NES, SNES, and N64 to end up talking baby talk. Wii, Wii, Waa, Waa. Come on!!! Revolution was cool, sexy and edgy. And it means something, especially for this console. And it might convince gamers that have thought Nintendo is a system for kids, my take notice and take another look. But with this name you might as well call it 'Goo, Goo, Gaa, Gaa' and give me a 150 word explaination of why it should remind me of my child hood. |
| 328 | Timothy Bradford | I flush Wii, I don't buy it. |
| 329 | Brenda Darwich | As someone else said, Wii name sound totally ridiculous and made Nintendo a company to laugh of. |
| 330 | Anonymous | |
| 331 | Chuck Norris | Hey, I think this is just great! Maybe they finnaly stop laughting at me and start at Wii!! God bless you Nintendo! |
| 332 | Benjamin Majeika | Wii.......? Really? as in your taking the piss out of yourself? |
| 333 | Nate M | Who cares if saying "Revolution" is hard in japanese?! America is the biggest buyer of videogames. When you hear "Wii" in english the first thing that comes to mind is urine.I ask you, Which is worse? This is suicide for Nintendo. They made alot of mistakes over the years but i love there games, so theres NO way in hell im going to buy a Fax Station 3 instead!! |
| 334 | Nash-D | nintendo why...why do that to the people the name revolution was so bad ass and now it's some piece of trash name i can't even say i lost some respect but please let the revolution live on...... |
| 335 | Meyer Sebastien | Je dis non à ce nom honteux!!! Vous vous imagines entrer dans une boutique et dire bonjour je souhaiterais acheter une wii? moi non !!! |
| 336 | Aaron Simpson | The Revolution's new name is ridiculous and immature at best. It will alienate the very audience that Nintendo was attempting to reach with this new system, and already many, many existing fans. They can market it as the "Wii" in Japan if they absolutely must, but this will be a HUGE blow to Nintendo's reputation and sales if they do not refer to it as the Revolution in Europe and North America. |
| 337 | NikiCoppola | It was hard for most gamers to take A system with an awesome futuristic name like GAMECUBE seriously when it was released with a purple casing and a handle. But some idiot thinks that a system called the wii will attract non gamers from all generations with a kiddie name like that?! WTF is wrong with YOU!!Have you no sense.Getting people to like you when they have a certain image of you (Nintendo's kiddie image)is very hard to do . They have worked hard to change that ( metroid prime and the revoultion promise) But all that work can be made meaning with one stupid mistake(like naming a system Wii). |
| 338 | Anonymous | You had a great name the controller was going to change video games forever
everyone was paying attention, the market was yours. Then you had to call it Wii :( |
| 339 | Stee Johnson | I'm not going to buy this fabulous console now. You can piss off. |
| 340 | David Steel | lol, people are talking about it! You got that right! But... No-one wants it, and no-one is gonna buy it... |
| 341 | Matthew Thomas Dore | Changing the name to Wii, getting word of mouth and publicity, then changing it back to Revolution before release would be a great PR stunt. But no, your marketing team is FAR too narrow minded... |
| 342 | Jim | |
| 343 | Tim Bradford | I don't buy Wii, I flush it. Save yourselves while you can! |
| 344 | Tim Bradford | I don't buy Wii, I flush it. Save yourselves while you can! |
| 345 | ihatenintendonow | they wont actually name it that |
| 346 | matthew | They really do need to change it back. "Wii" is not a noun. Its too hard for people to grasp. |
| 347 | Ted McAdams | REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_REVOLUTION!_ |
| 348 | Michael Kumar | Wii is too easy to make immature jokes out of.
Revolution is cool because the console is revolutionary! |
| 349 | Anonymous | Do you want to come over and play with my wii?
Wii want a Revolution... |
| 350 | Anonymous | fuck wii, bring back the revolution |
