We would like there to be DVD movie playback for the US current model of the the Wii. This could be a pay (via Wii points) or free download. We understand that there is a version of the Wii planned that will allow DVD playback, but we feel current owners of the Wii should not be penalized or forced to buy a whole new system to enable this feature. We understand that the current Wii hardware can play DVDs but that the required software is not installed or is disabled.
Furthermore, suppling current system models with this ability will help prevent future hacking to enable this feature. If it is available as a download for pay with Wii points, distribution fees would be minimal, and it could be fairly profitable for Nintendo. Current and future owners would be satisfied and no-one would feel cheated. It would also allow the user to decide on if they need or want DVD playback for their system. This would also save money in that there would not be a need for new packaging to be created and printed for the \"new\" DVD enabled models.
Please Nintendo, consider what are only positive ramifications of allowing a down loadable, software solution for the current model of Wii.
