Comments: The approach in both directions of the Widcombe schools road crossing on Pulteney Road should have 20 MPH limit during school run hours. For some reason highways believe a 20 mph speed limit is needed outside St Johns but not Widcombe which is arguably a more dangerous crossing.

Comments: I would like this extended further up the Wells Road since many people/children use this route up to Hayesfield or down to town / primary school, there are very narrow pavements and cars are currently averaging 38 mph (30 mph zone). If a 20 mph speed limit was introduced from Bear Flat onwards, most cars would slow down to 30 mph.

Comments: I agree entirely with the proposed 20mph zone. I don't know why it has not been introduced before now. Quite apart from Portsmouth, and no doubt other places, there is a 20 mph speed limit on Camden Road, throught Batheaston and Bathampton and I think Poets Corner of Bear Flat. I live on Lyncombe Hill, which is used by children going to and from school and where the traffic is often exceeding the 30 mph limit.

Comments: I live on Prior Park rd and watch speeding cars race past school kids, mothers with buggys, older shoppers, dog walkers, joggers and students on bikes. This is a heavily populated area, often with narrow pavements and the danger- plus noise and dirt- attendant on fast cars in a residential area is horrendous. The 20MPH rule cannot come in too soon, yours Deirdre McSharry

Comments: An excellent campaign. And once this has succeeded could the council please seriously engage with attempts to rid Bath of the HGVs that use our roads as a short cut? It beggars belief that in a city so dependent upon its reputation and appeal to tourists that nothing has been done to curtail this traffic. And every day we delay our buildings become dirtier and increasingly damaged.

Comments: I strongly support this proposal. This is an intensely residential area with a very busy infants' school. Both Widcombe Hill and Ralph Allen Drive have become major routes into the city form the South and traffic speed is a significant problem.

Comments: I witnessed a car at 8.15 this morning travelling along Greenway Lane at approx 30mph. At the sharp bend by the gated entrance to the field heading down towards the centre of Bath the car mounted the pavement to avoid a car coming up the hill. Luckily no school children were walking on the pavement at the time or there could have been a very serious accident. This stretch of pavement is used by many senior school children walking up to Beechen Cliff School, and younger children walking to the Paragon School and Widcombe School along with their parents. Even 20mph is too fast on this stretch of road.

Comments: I would like to suggest that Lower Oldfield Park and Brougham Hayes, and as far as Hayesfield School in Upper Oldfield Park be included in the 20 mph scheme. Lower Oldfield Park is an extremely dangerous road to cross as it has so many bends with poor visibility with a lot of children and students crossing(Hayesfield split site) There is also a large doctor and dental surgery at the bottom of Upper Oldfield/Junction road, again necessitating road crossing near bendy bus stops, which increase the hazard of road crossing. 20 mile an hour would improve safety a lot Regarding Brougham Hayes-Those wishing to get to Oldfield Park railway-station have to cross Brougham Hayes and that is a matter of dashing for safety.

Comments: I fully support speed restriction in all built up/residential areas. I have run several community consultations regarding issues of residential speed reduction/traffic calming and am firmly convinced of the sense and effectiveness of such measures when undertaken with the full involvement and endorsement of the local community.
