To the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Control:

We, the undersigned, implore the Board to revisit their decision in the case of the realignment of Southeast Wisconsin's Classic 8 Conference. It is our belief that the current alignment of the conference puts specific high schools at a disadvantage in competition.

The Classic 8, which now includes Kettle Moraine, Muskego, Oconomowoc, Waukesha North, Waukesha South, Waukesha West, Catholic Memorial, Arrowhead, and Mukwonago, places some schools at an advantage over others. Specifically, Waukesha North and Waukesha South have struggled to compete in this conference, mainly due to smaller size and lack of resources. The smaller number of players on their teams leads to players being overworked when put up against larger teams like those at Arrowhead, Oconomowoc, and Mukwonago. Oftentimes, this can lead to extreme stress and injury. Many North and South athletes have been badly hurt this school year, and we, the students, staff, parents, coaches, and all those that support these athletic programs, feel that this cannot continue.

The athletes at Waukesha North and Waukesha South are extremely talented and dedicated. They deserve every chance they can get, just like athletes from any other school. It's simply a fact that demographically, North and South are very different from the other schools in their conference. If other schools are placed in their conferences according to these criteria, why is that not the case for these two schools? We feel that the Board's decision is essentially a slight to North and South's athletes, and we demand that the Board uphold the WIAA's commitment to equality and sportsmanship, and do the right and fair thing. The Waukesha schools stand together and ask for their hardworking students to get the treatment they deserve.

Signed,

I care about my friends in sports, and I want them to have the same chances afforded other high school athletes in the state of Wisconsin.

This issue is something that has been ongoing within the Classic 8 Conference ever since my older brothers' played football at Waukesha South. This sport may not be relevant to me in regards to my athletic ability, but my father is a football coach at Waukesha South and all of my brothers played football there. By all means, I very much value the football program at Waukesha South. I believe it isn't fair that other schools included in the Classic 8 have more advantages to just throw in any player whenever, and not have to worry about over-playing any of their players. When I read that the WIAA mentioned that Waukesha South and Waukesha North would "just have to deal with it" in regards to to the proposal made about making changes to the conference, I thought "Why?" Why do these two teams have to be singled out? This made me upset because but it has nothing to do with the character of the players or their ambition to play the game of football. If the other teams have the opportunity to seek private training, recruitment options, and the use of expensive performance supplements, why are they allowed to be apart of a conference with schools like South and North? Competition is a good thing and I think that it is what makes football games so exciting, but it isn't fair that schools like Arrowhead, Kettle Moraine, and Catholic Memorial have high advantages of winning the majority of time against South or North because of all of the extensive things that not only their school can afford, but also their families. It's not okay to just single out other schools from the conference just because they may not have the best winning record or enrollment number. I very much agree that the Classic 8 conference should be similar in size and demographics as the head coach at North has mentioned.
