To the Mayor and Councillors of the Town of Walkerville–
We the undersigned petitioners oppose high-rise, high density development in Walkerville Town Centre and want to preserve the village scale and character of Walkerville.
Council is currently seeking to amend Walkerville’s Development Plan to allow high rise, high density development in the Town Centre precinct, including a 6 to 7- storey apartment building on the Transport SA carpark site facing Victoria Terrace.
Your petitioners therefore request that Walkerville Council produce an amended P.A.R. that:
• reflects residents’ strong opposition to development above two storeys in height on any street frontage within the Town Centre and
• restricts further development behind street frontages to mot more than three storeys in height
• immediately provides thorough assessment and protection for existing built heritage in the Town Centre precinct as a prerequisite for ANY development. |
