Name: Susan Runkel on Jul 7, 2007Comments: The installation of a left turn lane will actually decrease cut-through traffic into Tealwood. I know that many cars cut through there because the traffic backs up. Prohibiting left turns will only increase traffic into other neighborhoods on the west side of Gessner including Tealwood. Someone needs to stand on Gessner and count how many cars "cut through" there to Memorial Drive. Whatever they do will not impact us, just Tealwood.Flag

Name: Amy Richards on Jul 7, 2007Comments: I do support a left turn lane but if there is any way to preserve the lovely landscaping and possibly the tealwood sign (move it back) I would be even more suportive. Let's not loose beautification in the process. Let us all be ever mindful of why we love living in Memorial - the trees, the lush greenery.Flag

Name: Susan Bauch on Jul 7, 2007Comments: The cut-thru traffic in the Warrenton neighborhood is unacceptable. We must do something to put the traffic back onto Gessner as soon as possible. Our children deserve a safe street area. They must walk to and from school in the street with the absence of sidewalks.Flag

Name: J Hooker And Ann Wood on Jul 7, 2007Comments: There are limited options for north bound traffic to cross Buffalo Bayou and it is therefore unlikely that delaying traffic at the Memorial/Gessner intersection is likely to discourage travelers from this route. Rather, it will encourage them to by-pass the intersection through the residential neighborhoods east and west. Traffic must be moved through the intersection as efficiently as possible to prevent this from occuring. A left turn lane will allow more vehicles through and should then reduce delays at the intersection hopefully keeping traffic on the major road. This must be a desirable result!Flag

Name: Laura Scavone on Jul 8, 2007Comments: Without the left turn lane, the traffic backs up to Beaver Tail and our neighborhood gets an ENORMOUS amount of cut through traffic on Stoney Creek, Plantation and Warrenton. Not only are these vehicles cutting through, the drivers are angry and impatient with the back-up and come through at high speeds, putting our residents in danger. You can not develop areas north and south of the Memorial Gessner intersection and expect that bottle neck to work --- it's not logical!Flag

Name: Susan Mize on Jul 8, 2007Comments: No left turn from Gessner To Memorial is going to cause more cut thru traffic into Tealwood & Whispering Oaks. Also will cause cars to cross Memorial and make U-turns on Gessner to get to Memorial. If no left turn is allowed at all, cutting thru the neighborhoods will be the only access to Memorial Dr for all traffic north bound on Gessner on south side of Gessner.Flag

Name: Laura Signet on Jul 8, 2007Comments: The extra lane works at the intersection of Wilcrest and Memorial works great. With volume extremely high in our area, making a better choice to limit the wait at a light and to decrease cut thoughs in neighborhoods, which eventually cause an accident is a positive move. Please consider this as soon as possible. Thank YouFlag

Name: Jane B. Schuelke on Jul 8, 2007Comments: In regard to the Gessner/Memorial intersection, I petition for option 2, Prohibit Left Turns from Gessner North Bound to West Bound Memorial during peak traffic periods. I do not want to see any desecration of the Gessner median. Sign placement prohibiting left turns during peak times is an inexpensive and easily implemented approach.Flag

Name: John Harche on Jul 8, 2007Comments: A left turn lane from Northbound Gessner to Westbound Memorial will facilitate the flow of traffic, can be timed to operate co-terminus with the left turn light from Southbound Gessner and will limit the amount of cut-through traffic in the Tealwood, Wispering Oaks. Warrenton and Frostwood subdivisons.Flag

Name: Billye Lynn Ratliff on Jul 8, 2007Comments: As a Whispering Oaks resident who lives on Gessner, I think it is imperative that we have a left turn opportunity. Those folks in the adjacent subdivisions only THINK they have a problem now with cut-through traffic. If there is no left turn onto Memorial, everyone who lives around here will be forced into the neighborhood streets to get to Memorial.Flag

Name: Terence Crawford-Smith on Jul 9, 2007Comments: Any option but the left turning lane is a short term fix in my opinion and will potentially direct more traffic through the neighborhood streets - via westbound streets north of memorial and/or northbound streets south of memorial (if the no-left turn option is implemented). Whilst there is a short term investment to create a left-turn lane, long term expense will avoid future inevitable remedial traffic issues that will be caused by preventing left turn into Westbound Memeorial - examples: installation of traffic lights/and or other trafffic management alternatives for the neighborhood streets should they need to handle additional traffic flow.Flag

Name: Misty Ellis on Jul 10, 2007Comments: I strongly desire a left turn lane for northbound traffic on Gessner to turn west onto Memorial Drive. I believe this will tremendously cut down on traffic on my street, Plantation Road, and all of Whispering Oaks neighborhood streets. These neighborhood streets, which incidentally lack sidewalks for pedestrians, are often used by neighborhood children and teens to go to school, the park, and even the swim club. Reducing speeding, cut-through traffic is a priority for me.Flag
