Help the Orangeville Midwives get Privileges for all Midwives at the Orangeville Hospital!
There is an ongoing issue in Orangeville with the Headwaters Health Care Centre and the Midwives of Headwater Hills.
The Midwives temporarily withdrew their services from the hospital in May of this year when the hospital refused to provide full privileges for the entire midwife practice. Though the Ministry of Health has acknowledged the need for a full group of midwives in Orangeville and has provided funding, the hospital does not recognize that more than two midwives are needed.
Opposition to midwifery privileges has come primarily from the obstetricians in this community. The hospital indicated a resolution in August 2011, which was pushed to September, and we recently learned the last request has been denied without explanation.
We urge the community (and their family and friends) to sign the petition in support of the hospital giving privileges to the entire midwife practice.
Remember, you don't have to be a pregnant woman (or even a woman) to
care about this issue. Think of your sisters, daughters, neighbors and
friends. They deserve to have access to their chosen care provider.
