I saw Arthur Christmas at a local theatre yesterday. It was a 3-D version. I loved the movie. I laughed out loud a few times and knew that I'd recommend it to my entire email list. I was also happy to see that the co-author was a female. There were several females involved in the production. Mrs. Santa was the balancing character; the peacemaker and the catalyst in the solution that saved Christmas. Without knowing why, I picked up a poster on the way out of the movie theatre. I didn't look at it until just now and I'm stunned. There are twelve characters on the poster, and one decrepit reindeer. There are two female elves...and NO MRS. SANTA! What were you thinking, publicity people, when you put this together? What were you thinking, women who made this movie possible? I want a new poster made immediately, with Mrs. Santa in the most prominent position. Mrs. Santa who is the mother of Arthur, and Steven, and the nurturer of all children in the world. I suggest that this film be boycotted until it acknowledges that masculine miscalculations had to be overcome to save Christmas...much as they are needing to be overcome in this moment, to save the earth.
