There are some TRUE supporters of Booker T. Washington High School who would like to officially oppose the negative petition being circulated on the following grounds:
Many of the people who have signed the negative petition have never met the current administration
The list of complaints on the negative petition are not grounded in fact, but rather perception
Our group of POSITIVE supporters have heard many POSITIVE stories about the current administration and wish to highlight the positive and HELP in the areas that need help.
Finally, it's time for OUR people to stop putting OUR own people down.

I am a proud graduate of the 2009 class of Booker T. Washington High School, I know for a fact the good that goes on in the school and the love that the administration has for its students. A blind man could look at the relationships and bonds shared between the faculty, staff, and student body and only see pure love. BTW continues to raise despite of the circumstances of which the neighbor and surrounding community uphold. I lived in Foote Homes which is directly across from BTW, and it was my scapegoat to get away from the negative mess that is tried to be protrayed upon the school. I remember thinking when I first transfered there that I was a going to a school of low expectations and that i would be able to slide by easily, but by the end of my first week there, I changed my mind.

I personally feel that this negative petition is just a way to keep the good that happens at Booker T. Washington silenced. I attended BTW all four years and I received a more than adequate education. Booker T. washington taught me everything I know and I am proud to be a Washingtonian.

I have been at BTW since 2004, at that time Ms Bailey was there. I was there when Ms Kiner became Principal. I must admitt I have not agreed with everthing, but I can see a lot of improving. We all know everything you start with is a slow process, but become great. I have seen connections, impovement in grades and excitement throughout the school, We must get with her and do all we can to see success of our students continue to progrss. Put a young white person in there and we will all support and will not say anything negative no matter what is done, but we have to walk all over our own, lets not kick a person down, lets lift her up and fight for the proud standards of BTW.

It's hard to beat a person who never gives up, and the administration, faculty, and support staff has never given up on our children, when at times, their parents have a long time ago. People have different variables of measuring success, and I don't know how the naysayers are measuring success, but each day I walk into this building I see something successful taking place. From what I understand, parents find ways to enroll their students in whatever schools they choose, so why is it that some of the parents who feel their children are being "threatned" at BTW are still dropping their children off at the front door EVERY morning to be "abused and mistreated?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?"
As for Ms. Kiner....the essence of a true leader is seen in the work he or she does for someone else, rather than what he or she may be able to achieve, and I can say that I have personally been given every opportunity by Ms. Kiner to learn this system and excel in it, in preparation for my own leadership aspirations!!

I think the teachers and staff at BTW are doing a wonderful job. There is never any negative news reports are incedents on TV about this school, so keep up the good work and shake off the haters.

Finally someone appreciates great leadership. The kids at BTW are loved and supported by staff. Ms. Kiner goes out of her way for her students even beyond what a principal is paid to do.

I am not just a teacher/coach at BTW, but I am also a parent. My child is currently enrolled at BTW because I trust my coworkers with the development of my ONLY child. I know the kind of the work that goes on at BTW, I see the support we have for the kids, the oppurtunities we have provide for our kids though programs, scholarships etc.
