We, the undersigned concerned residents of Westport, urge the Flood & Erosion Control Board and Conservation Commission to deny the subdivision application for 5 River Lane. The proposed three house subdivision will increase existing flooding problems on River Lane, exacerbate soil erosion to the detriment of neighboring properties, require the removal of multiple old growth trees that currently stabilize very steep slopes on the property and threaten to contaminate a seasonal stream that feeds directly into the Saugatuck River. The applicant has not demonstrated that the proposed plans adequately protect the neighboring properties and the precious natural resources of the town, especially the Saugatuck River aquifer.
