We, parents and community members in the West Sonoma County Union High School District, urge the school board at its November 17th meeting to reject the Superintendent's proposed action plan for sex education and instead support the comprehensive sex education that is required by law.
We urge the school board to:
--Reject the Superintendent's proposal to continue using an abstinence-only-until-marriage textbook to teach sex education. This textbook is not medically accurate and objective, as required by law.
--Reject the Superintendent's proposal to reintroduce Free To Be, an outside agency whose mission is to promote abstinence-only-until-marriage. The California Department of Education has stated that this agency should not be teaching in California schools.
We urge the school board to stand up for the comprehensive sex education that research shows to be effective and that California law, and the district's own policy, requires. We're counting on you!

Kim Clement, United States4 years ago Comments: Truthful, accurate and non-judgmental information is critical to teen sexual education and health. PLEASE do not let Free to Be back into the school. They do not adhere to these principles and their lack of a comprehensive education means they are in violation of District policy and California state law. They have no place in the public school system. Thank you for considering my comments. Kim Clement
