Whereas: The City of West Point, Georgia continues to provide quality programs and services to youth in our community. Whereas: The West Point Youth Services Center has served approximately 100 individual children in the last year. Whereas: The children in the city of West Point, Georgia who live near the West Point Youth Services Center do not have a playground with open access that is located within a safe walking distance. Whereas: We believe that play is an important part of a child's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Therefore: Be it resolved that we, the undersigned, believe that a playground at the West Point Youth Center would be a benefit to youth, families, and others in the community of West Point, Georgia. We support the efforts of City of West Point staff in planning this project and dedicate ourselves to helping the community raise funds to complete the project. We encourage Dr Pepper Snapple & KaBOOM! to award a Construction grant to the City of West Point, Georgia.
