West 18th Street Parking Regulations Change

Dear Residents and Businesses of the 100 West 18th Street block,

Based on various conversations with residents and business owners, we are proposing amending the parking regulations on the block. Currently, both sides of the block are set up for Commercial Parking only during the week. We are proposing that the south side of the block be reconfigured to allow regular parking for up to two hours during weekdays. This would involve the installation of meters.

Implementing this change would be beneficial for residents and businesses. For residents, it would allow for short term parking - you can park you card and bring up groceries, or make a short term stay without having to pay for a lot. For business owners, this would allow your customers to park closeby and frequent your stores. Commercial parking would remain on the north side of the street.

This change was made on 17th Street last year and has worked quite well.

In order to request that the Department of Transportation look into this change, we will need to present before the Transportation Committee of Community Board 4 on October 15. We would like to present results of a petition to show support for this proposal. As such, if you support this change, please sign this electronic version of the petition.

If you have comments about this (including if you do NOT support such a change), please email us at craig.slutzkin@outlook.com and michael_glassman@hotmail.com. If we find that most people are not in favor of this change, we will clearly not pursue. But we need to know your thoughts.

Please feel free to forward to residents of your respective buildings.

Best,
Craig Slutzkin
Michael Glassman
