In light of recent events I understand West End Elementary School and Moore County Schools desire to try and make the schools safer. However I do not feel as though limiting access to my own child makes him/her safer but acts to the contrary. This petition is being circulated to respectfully request West End Elementary to rescind it's recent policy changes regarding the drop-off and pick-up of students. I believe that my child is my responsibility first and foremost. I believe that no one can protect my child as well as I can. I believe that I have the right to escort my child all the way to his/her classroom if I so choose and that no employee of Moore County Schools should impede that right. I believe that I should be able to communicate with my child's teacher whenever possible. I feel as though the minutes before classroom instruction begins is an integral part of the Parent/Teacher relationship. I believe that West End Elementary School does not have the authority to restrict access to my own child. If I have need to check him/her out of school after 2:00pm then that is my right as a parent and I should not have to a give reason. My child belongs to me and not West End Elementary School nor Moore County Schools.
