The petition
Websense is actually not a bad thing. It keeps students in school from going to site and doing things they shouldn't. But of course, this is for students in K-12. They are not adults. College students, on the other hand, should not be treated the same way.
Websense in a college is a very stupid and ridiculous move. It shows that the college sees its paying students as children to be treated like all other children in grade school. It is irresponsible for a college to treat its paying students as such. We pay to go to school here. We do not pay for Websense or any other blocker on the internet connection.
Now, it is true that most of the computers GPC itself provides do not have Websense. The main issue is when students connect via their laptops. The argument still stands, however, as Websense is still a sign of disrespect for the paying student, regardless of the computer the blocks are found on.
Please remove Websense and start treating your paying students like adults, because that is what we are. We are too old to be dealing with Websense. Thank you.
