We spoke, What happened? The New White Earth constitution was approved when 2,780 (79.61%) voted to APPROVE the Constitution and 712 (20.39%) voted to REJECT. This happened November 19th, 2013, since then the tribal council and the MCT have blocked all attempts to implement to include returning the grant monies that were giving to help support the transition. The tribal council has enacted a gag order on the 'Anishinaabeg Today' stating no updates on the constitution can be printed. Ignoring the VOICE of the people and trying to silence us in the media has to STOP! It is time to tell our elected officials to honor our voice and move forward with the new constitution and to work to find reasonable solutions and compromises with MCT to move past their objections.
