Comments: Really concerned at this proposal and hope that the Council re- considers. I am sure that there are other areas within the Council where savings could be found..

Comments: I am sure there are other ways of saving money in these difficult times - at the end of the day we must be talking about savings of less than £100 per week so is it worth it ? Look for bigger potential savings without a further reduction of local amenities.

Comments: I believe this library & all libraries provide an invaluable service in the community. Any reduction in hours should be opposed.

Comments: So many branch libraries have limited opening hours. I travel from Thornhill to Rhiwbina as anything nearer has very limited hours. Many people use the computers and read the newspapers etc. The children's section is also of paramount importance in introducing children to books. It seems well used and is certainly loved by my 3 yr old grandchild when visitng us.

Comments: Rhiwbina used to have a vibrant village centre but it has gone down hill with the loss of banks, building societies and shops and the premises gradually being taken over by solicitors, estate agents and a betting shop. If the hours at the library are reduced it will be a continuation of this "slippery slope" and eventually there will be no library and the number of people patronising the village will be reduced still further. The library is an important part of the community. It provides access to education and the internet. Losing it will be particularly detrimental for school children who need the facilities to enhance their education, also for retired residents who presently benefit from the social stimulation it provides. If the footage has gone down, the library needs to reinvent itself. For example, it could open a cafe to welcome and encourage customers. The Council has spent many millions of pounds to regenerate other areas of Cardiff, particularly the Bay, and it should now be taking positive measures to encourage and help the village to be a proper community again. It should not be taking negative measures such as reducing the opening hours of our library.

Comments: Rhiwbina library is in constant use. My three children always used it and now I take my eighteen month old grand daughter there. How can we encourage the love of books without libraries. Little ones love to turn pages - not easy on computer!! Nothing beats the feel or smell of books.

Comments: It is important to have a longer opening hours so everyone has the chance to use facilities in the library. Cutting hours is one steep from closing as you losse the staff that are dedicated to the service.
