Comments: Many of our forefathers were from areas where the only arms were in the hands of the “Gentry” and the subjects were not allowed to be armed. The government established in these United States of America was based on individual freedom and high self-reliance. Much of both, to what should be our great shame, have been eroded and chipped away at by legislation. The 2nd Amendment is about arming our militia (military) and every citizen is obligated to be a part of that military for both defense of country and thereby defense of self. Citizens without the same right to bear arms and right to bear the same arms, as do those that would govern them, are no longer citizens, but simply subjects of another ruler. Without the means to adequately defend yourself, your family, and your country, from those that would do harm to any one of them, sets you up as just another victim. Thinking that someone else can or will do it for you (the government, the police, whatever) makes you just another fool.

Comments: The original intent of the second amendment is so the people can prevent a tyrannical government from taking hold. It is the ultimate check and balance. It authorizes the use of deadly force against a government that becomes out of control, and is no longer of, by, and for the people. This nullifies the argument that people don't need assault rifles for hunting or target shooting or home defense. The founding fathers had just witnessed what can happen when a government gets out of control, and no longer stands for the people, and fought hard to free us from the grips of it. They then put this amendment in place to ensure it couldn't happen again. It seems that to much time has passed since then, and people have begun to take liberty for granted.

Comments: Banning guns will do nothing except give criminals a better chance to get away with their crime. The second amendment was not for us to hunt (which is what most politicians think). It is so that we can defend ourselves from a tyranist government (which is what we have right now but no one is doing anything). The 2nd amendment shall not be infringed.

Comments: The Constitution to the United States is a document, which should be taken as a whole, and not something to be interpreted, pieced or censored by whomever and however they see fit. Much like the Bible, it must be taken as it is written. You believe and accept it all, or it is worthless. The freedoms guaranteed in both were bought with blood, the sacrifices of life, liberty and justice for all men must not be in vain.

Comments: Gun bans have never solved anything and a lot of gun laws haven't either. It's very well put that you CAN'T BAN EVIL. However, take more guns out of the picture and evil will prevail. It's my opinion, it's evil people who ban the guns so that evil can prevail more. Ask this question, why hasn't our President acted on protecting our children? He wants to put a ban on guns. Another gun-free zone shooting will happen and he'll ban more guns. Pretty soon, law abiding citizens of the USA will only be permitted to own one SINGLE shot shotgun - that's it. That is the left sides agenda. They want more evil to happen so they can control our lives and take our freedom away.
