Mellins has finally resigned from his position. I am relieved that our community will no longer be represented by someone who speaks about my people with such hate. Thank you for showing that this kind of rhetoric has no place in our town.

Tory Councillor Alan Mellins said that a solution to speeding up the process to evict travellers would be to "execute them". His comments were made at a public meeting in Maidenhead Town Hall. Cllr Mellins is one of the councillors for Cox Green ward, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.
Charles Smith, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Maidenhead said: "These comments betray a bigoted and prejudiced view, and mean that Cllr Mellins lacks the values, judgement and ability to fulfil his role as an elected representative. He must resign immediately. This sets a horrendous example to the community."

Seeing one hundred people sign this in such a short time is overwhelming because it proves that our community refuses to accept this kind of hate. My heart aches for anyone targeted by words like these and I am grateful that so many of you are demanding accountability.

I have spent the last few days reading through the stories you are sharing about the real-world impact of this type of hateful rhetoric. It is clear that we cannot allow these comments to go unanswered because our community deserves representatives who show basic human decency. I am currently working on a formal letter to the council leadership to ensure they see the scale of the outrage felt across this town.

This man is a disgrace and should not be a Councillor. Sack him. There is enough Racism in the world without people like him being in a public job. An apology is long over due
I am so sick of the prejudice and discrimination that exists in our society - Alan Mellins says the comment was ill-judged and he didn't intend it to be taken seriously - that in itself is offensive. Most certainly he should lose his post as a councillor and also be prosecuted. It's about time people like him were challenged publicly and shown to be the racists they truly are. He said the comment doesn't reflect his views - how stupid does he think the public are?
I'm afraid the ad is generated by browsing habits, therfore you must be browsing to such extent or you have recently in that favour.! lol
Has anyone noticed that this page is sponsored by and has an advert for "Traveller Evictions: Experts in Traveller Removal UK & International"? Promoting themselves as some sort of 'human pest control service'. How do we complain about this to iPetitions?
Unbelievable!! If he had said this about any other race of people he would have been sacked already and questioned about inciting racial hatred RBWM should remove Mr Mellins immediately to show they are against this type of racism
