Name: Khaled El Mayet on Jan 9, 2012Comments: Many dual nationals were forced to leave Libya and many were born abroad and had no opportunity to return. There are also many dual nationals who have actually been living in Libya for the last 10 to 20 years. They were born and educated abroad and then returned to Libya at the age of 16 to 18 and have spent their entire adult lives in Libya. I do not see how it is fair to totally rule out Libyan's with dual nationality as they feel that they are themselves Libyan, they love Libya and many have worked tirelessly over the last few months to help not only get Gaddafi out of power but to help those that were fighting by setting up charities, lobbying international Governments and keeping the Libyan revolution in the media lime light which played a considerable part in the action taken by the international community.Flag

Why return to their homeland if they will be only half citizens and unable to fully enjoy the life and freedoms of new Libya. We have much to share with our fellow Libyans. They received Libyan nationality at birth dont deny them the opportunities to participate in its future. Let it be a choice not the only option.Flag

Name: Hanin Bengezi on Jan 10, 2012Comments: You're digging your own grave if you think eliminating dual citizens from important congressional positions is loyalty. You're simply making it easier for ex-regime and Gaddafi supporters to get into the government. Furthermore, you're losing the expertise of the exiles which proves to be important day by day. This negative, disloyalty view of exiles in government, will no doubt transfer to people thinking twice about hiring them as well.Flag

Name: Penny Simpson on Jan 10, 2012Comments: Please! Exiled Libyans were mostly obliged to take second citizenships for safety. Those sincerely working for Libya need a welcoming pathway home., not blockages. I feel, however, that, in time, they should give up their other citizenship.Flag

Name: Hussein Raiani on Jan 10, 2012Comments: This a discrimination & exclusion act on the part of the Election Committee . Hope you can fix this blunder . Haven't you seen all these double-nationality holders who went to Libya and fought against the tyrant . Some did even pay the ultimate price ! Let's keep the slogan " raise your head up high , you are a Free Libyan " valid for each Libyan regardless of how many nationalities he holds !..your decision was so disappointing , hope you can fix it before it's too late .Flag

Name: محمد نورى الراعي on Jan 10, 2012Comments: Being loyal to your country doen not contradict having two citizenship , especially most aquired the second one becaust of Gaddafi' tyrnical rule and his policy of physically liquidating his enemies. Most libyans abroad have long term responsiblities and commitments invoving work , schools, benefits and hundreds of other things, so they can not simply renounce their citizenship. Having one citizenship did not prevent many from curring Gaddaf's policies and having dual citizenship did not prevent thousnads abroad from fighting Gaddaf's and being loyal to their countries.Flag

Comments: I'm insulted that some think my loyalty depends on how many passports I hold rather than the actions I've taken. The problem is not my dual nationality but the mentality of resentment surrounding my dual nationality. There are many with only one nationality whose loyalties lie elsewhere.Flag -

This questions their loyalty and essentially makes them second class citizens. Gaddafi and his cronies all had Libyan citizenship only. Were they good for Libya?Flag
