Waterloo Community Forest Garden is an initiative planned by some of the Friends of Victoria Park and other local residents who want to see something beautiful and useful happen to a piece of neglected local parkland running along Somerville Road opposite Victoria Park. We aim to create an educational nature space that can be accessed and maintained by all in the local community. We want it to become a place where we can grow food, make friends and enjoy the environment. If you would like to get involved with the Forest Garden and help plan, plant and picnic then please sign our petition! Sefton Council are consulting on a proposal to sell the site of the proposed Waterloo Community Forest Garden for a Housing Development. Their policy is based on a study made in 2006, BEFORE the credit crunch. There are currently 3,000 long-term empty houses in Sefton, and waiting lists of 2-3 years for allotments. Which do you prefer? Forest garden or housing? Time is running out to have your say and to stop the housing development on Victoria Park - consultation ends on 12 August – don’t delay, act today!
