Name: Austin Maxwell on Jun 4, 2007Comments: Pardon the 'French" ... but: What de rarse is going on in this Island of ours, pray tell All I can hear coming out of The Rock these days is more and more news of greater and greater acts of proposed and actual natural-resource rape and deliberate degradation of our Land in one way, shape, or the other! First one was the Bauxite Company in St. Elizabeth flattening the hills around Knockpatrick and Daly's Grove, where I grew up and spent many a night sitting on a stone wall with my Father, Ken, listening to the stillnes, broken only by the crickets' ciccadas', and tree-frogs' symphony - punctuated intermittently by the bark and howl of the district's 'Moosku-Dawgs' (Sp.) as they relayed news to each other from hilltop to hilltop. No more hilltops, One egg mash. Next, it's the Cockpit Country they want to decimate. Again: No more hilltops - an' we talkin' PLENTY hilltops here, y'unnerstan'!! A nex' egg gawn. Then, I've just read my friend (and, most likely -cousin!) John Maxwell's article, e-mailed by my sister, about the wonderful benefits accruing from our plethora of Bauxite-mining sites and activities island-wide. Terrific article,by the way - not sure where it was published but if you can find it - worth the read. Now this.. oh sure - by all means let's erect more concrete phalluses on yet another pristine, public beach! Afterall - haven't we already allowed our fishing banks to be over-fished virtually to extinction Jacques Cousteau warned us about that over 30 years ago and, naturally, we never even paid him "bad-min'"! So, why not demolish another Natural Treasure along our once-beautiful coastline We soon can mek a' omlette! Were Queen Isabella of Spain still alive, along with our late discoverer, and were she again to ask him for a topographical description of Jamaica, we're not far from the point where all he'd have to do is drop a pristine sheet of paper on her table and reply: It looks like that!" C'mon guys -enough of the greed already - leave that to George Bush and his cronies - they've had more practice! Let's at least conserve and preserve what little remains of Jamaica's natural geography, habitat and beauty while we yet can: Once it's destroyed, there's no turning back - y'know: Bush has banned the sale, by Wal-Mart, of any spare parts for decimated islands - citing untold threats to U.S. national security. And they were the sole source! Blessings on all our brows - may those who've been brainrinsed by capitalism-gone-mad find once more the Divinity AND the Humanity within them to Think Straight and Do Right by the Land (we say!!) We Love: Prove it! Namaste, all.Flag

Jamaica belongs 2 the Jamaicans ... it doesn`t matter if they r rich or poor and money shouldn`t be everything !!!Flag

Name: Kimikawa De Castro on Jun 4, 2007Comments: I am a citizen of Jamaica who is becoming concerned with the level of development that is being invested in Tourism without any consideration of how it impacts the indigenous popoulation or the environement. We already have had over 4000 new rooms developed within the last few years. At this rate there will be nothing of interest left to see on the island. I whole heartedly support this petition to leave the public beach as it is. Sincerely Kimikawa De CastroFlag
