Dillon LammieI am very familiar with the area. It was the first beach I have ever been to. Now I live in the US and always bragged about how it is well kept for a public beach. I hope it stays that way.
AnonymousI visited Winnifred Beach last week and it is by far the most peaceful and beautiful place I have discovered so far! It would be such a shame to see this treasure lost to the public.

Andre CookeBeing a born Portlander, and a frequent weekend user of this beach, I think it would be a steal from the Portland people if we should loose another of our beaches to privatization.

Lorna E. LewisJamaicans deserve to be able to enjoy their local beaches. All the best beaches cannot be closed off from the local people. We are not lesser human beings than tourists. This has happened far too much to the Portland people.
ArleneAs a child growing up in Fairy Hill, this beach provided me, my sibblings, friends and others with recreational escape and a chance to enjoy an unspoilt treasure. Is the idea of sustainable and eco tourism dead?

caitlyn carringtonI support this cause.
Alecia SimpsonMost beautiful beaches on the island of Jamaica,
Ally AveryI grew up going to Winnifred Beach. It was always cleaner, and nicer than going to Boston Beach. When I go home I make sure I find my way to Winnifred Beach and would hate to see it become a private beach. We already have enough private beaches.
Rochelle Hartley
Faith DonaldsonThis is truly the last public beach left. It is a crime when the citizens and tax payers of a country cannot enjoy the natural resources of their own land

AnonymousI spent many of my formative years enjoying this beach and would hate to know that the wonderful people in the community (especially the children and seniors who have lived in the community all their lives) are unable to enjoy this last piece of paradise left in Jamaica. Why does the government and owners of big businesses think that the ordinary people of Jamaica are not entitled to enjoy its natural beauty without having to sell their kids and their very lives to afford it?
Jermaine McFarlaneWinnifred has to stay with the people so I can bring my kids and grandkids to enjoy it just like my father and his father did. Free up Jah earth mek wi enjoy it, its not a white man thing is fi everybody.
