Join in supporting Wayne Bovenschen for marching band director at Oklahoma State University. All we ask is that Oklahoma State consider Wayne Bovenschen for this position. He is over-qualified and would make extreme improvements.
Please give Wayne a fair chance. Not only has Wayne been assistant band director for 23 YEARS, he is extremely qualified. More so than anyone who may be coming in from another state. He would not be using this job as an addition to a resume, he would live for this job.
Wayne Bovenschen is Associate Professor of Percussion at Oklahoma State University. In this capacity, he instructs the Concert Percussion Ensemble, Marching Percussion Ensemble, studio lessons, percussion techniques class, assists with the Cowboy Marching Band, directs the OSU Spirit Bands and Men's and Women's basketball games, and co-sponsor of the Alpha Chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. A graduate of Michigan State University, Mr. Bovenschen holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music in Applied Percussion.
The OSU Concert Percussion Ensemble was selected as one of two university ensembles to present a showcase concert at the 1996 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) on November 21 in Nashville, Tennessee. The OSU Marching Percussion Ensemble has participated in the PASIC Marching Percussion Forum, placing sixth of twelve (94), third of six (95), and sixth of eighteen (96).
Mr. Bovenschen's prior teaching experience includes percussion instructor for the Michigan State University Spartan Percussion Section, Lansing Community College, Northern Aurora, Suncoast Sound, and Black Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. He has performed with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the Cavaliers and Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Bovenschen is also a member of the Percussive Arts Society serving as president of the Oklahoma Chapter (1996-98), International Association of Rudimental Percussionists, MENC, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and serves as a clinician for Ludwig Industries and Vic Firth, Inc.

Lola King, United States4 years ago Comments: He should have gotten the job after Hemburger left. He's been the one motivator that has been true to art of music since I went there that continues to strive for excellence not only from himself, but from his students.
Mel G Arner, United States4 years ago Comments: I have known Wayne Bovenschen since his arrival on the campus of Oklahoma State University. His pride in and dedication to OSU and specifically the music program is second to none. Talent, skill, and passion are but a few of the superior qualities possessed by Mr. Bovenschen.
