Water is a basic need for all people. The community of Makapanstad where the ladies of the Heartfelt Project live and work has never had proper water services.
Taps have been installed in the village but they are still dry and have never produced a drop of water. Makapanstad families have been buying their water from a water cart that usually visits regularly. The cart has not been able deliver any water to the community in weeks. This means that there is no water to drink, wash or bath with. Can you imagine living like that? Let’s do something about it! Please sign this petition that we intend to send to the local and national government officials responsible for the provision of Free Basic Water to every South African citizen.
We, the undersigned, call on Moretele Municipality and
the Department of Water & Environmental Affairs,
Republic of South Africa, to complete the implementation
of water services to the village of Makapanstad and all villages
in the district which still do not have running water.
