Comments: Several businesses also use this intersection in dangerous ways. Specifically a car wash and storage company. Vehicles coming in and out of these businesses routinely use Atlantic as a parking lot or entry drive way. This causes dangerous maneuvers from the high speed traffic on Atlantic as they swerve to avoid the parked cars and trucks. I have no problem with the businesses (I use the car wash myself) but this needs to be addressed as well. Also why is the cross walk light so short? I'm young, fit and walk fast but the sign turns from the walking symbol to the flashing hand in 5 seconds. That enough time for me to make it half way across Atlantic. I'd hate to think what it's like for someone older or infirmed!

Comments: This is a very dangerous intersection. Since moving to the neighborhood 1 year ago, i have had 4 close encounters with cars. The turn lanes are poorly timed, and the stop sign is laughably ineffective. Curb extensions will go a long way to making this very dangerous intersection just a little bit safer. Thanks

Comments: Awesome idea...motorists treat Atlantic Ave. like a speedway, and even when the pedestrian has the light, it's hard to mak it across in time.

Comments: I think the length of red lights for pedestrian crossing needs to be longer. It starts blinking red before you're even a quarter of the way across. I have no idea how an elderly person would ever manage to cross that intersection.

Comments: 936 (South Side) Atlantic resident. Between the drivers barreling from the east and barely stopping, to the people using the right turn lane from Washington onto Atlantic and not paying the least bit of attention to the Yield sign, I feel in danger every time I cross the street.

Comments: I have been crossing Atlantic Ave. for over 4 years now on my way to work and to train station at all hours of the day, and it has always been very treacherous. It is very important to incorporate an extended island for crossing or a delayed green in both directions. Thank you!

Comments: I am very concerned for this intersection. My mother in law has been in this neighborhood for years and it seems to get worse. I have now bought a place 1 block over with my wife and 1 year old and hope to be here for years. it frightens me to think that she will eventually have to cross this intersection on her own. At this point a longer walk signal and maybe a turn signal could go a long way.
