This is a petition to solicit support for the building and management of a public outdoor pool to be located in the Warwick Park (park of Orange County NY) in Warwick, NY in the southern region of Orange County. To date, publicly accessible outdoor pools are scarce in Orange County. The proposed outdoor pool would be 1. in operation throughout the summer (Memorial Day - Labor Day) 2. accessible through the purchase of day or season passes 3. provide lap swimming and other water recreation opportunities Public swimming pools provide BENEFITS for all members of our community - children, teenagers, young families, adults, seniors. Benefits include: 1. water safety education 2. enhanced fitness and health (lap swim / programming) 3. socialization / community building across generations 4. employment - lifeguards, coaches, swim instructors, pool mgt 5. builds life skills through team activities 6. enhances community service offering around Warwick and Orange County
