Name: Louella Harley on Jan 25, 2009Comments: When both sides of Waminda Street were full of parked cars, as used to be the case, it was a very dangerous road. I therefore strongly support this petition to retain the changes that have been made to Waminda St because it is now safer for everyone using it - cyclists, pedestrians, local residents and people using Morningside RWS.Flag

Name: Stephen Waters on Jan 25, 2009Comments: All cycling infrastructure must remain in place and be improved upon. The time has come to stand up to the motoring section of our community and actively encourage and support alternative transport. Cities are for people not traffic congestion and pollution. Time to act is NOW.Flag

Name: Robert Barton on Jan 26, 2009Comments: there is a general need for bicycles lanes in many parts of this city and where these exists it is essential that associated infrastructure should facilitate the use of these lanes; allowing parking in bicycles lanes limits the effectiveness of the lanesFlag

Name: Phil Goodman on Jan 26, 2009Comments: Honourable Lord Mayor Councillor Campbell Newman - please we need more dedicated bicycle lanes, not a reduction of the existing lanes. Cycling in lanes with parked cars is dangerous, unexpected opening doors can be killers.Flag

Name: Jennifer Purse on Jan 26, 2009Comments: Cycling is risky enough already, so anything that reduces risk for cyclists and encourages alternatives to cars, and has the support of the majority, should be maintained.Flag

Name: Alet Le Roux on Jan 26, 2009Comments: to assist in getting people out of cars and onto either public transport or better still BICYCLES it is essential to provide safe cycle lanes on roads heavily used by cyclists one example being Waminda Street. Clearly car parking is well catered for in the car park - it is strongly recommended that the road be left for road users, including cyclists.Flag

Name: Aleta Waters on Jan 27, 2009Comments: While I only use this particular bike lane at weekends, I cycle every day to work and though a long-time and responsible cyclist, regularly experience the dangers on riding on roads where there is no dedicated lane. But I still cycle cause I love it & believe it will improve our environment. Anything Council can do to make this safer, will only encourage more to cycle - with the obvious health (for the cyclists), infrastructure (less road wear & tear & $$$ ) and environmental (less polution) benefits which would flow - please DON:T remove the lane.Flag
