We the undersigned our against the conversion of our local community pub The Walnut Tree, Lillington being sold to Tescos. We are already well served by excellent local shops and feel that the destruction of our pub to make way for Tescos will have a hugely detrimental impact on our
local community.
We do not believe that it wil generate new jobs - Tescos promise to create 20 new jobs, though the combined shops and local pubs employ more than double this number.
As area that has a greater than average percentage of families on low incomes a Tesco Express has nothing to offer us. Where as the current shops and Walnut Tree Pub caters for all our needs, offering not only shops but a place to meet friends, socialise, play sports belong to teams and a haven for the elderly and vunerable in our comunity. The Walnut Tree has stood for over 40 years and is at the hub of our social lives, Tescos would destroy our established community if they succeed.
Lillington doesnt need another tesco we have enough convenience stores. keep the pub open its the only place around here to actually meet people.

Ridiculous to think a big chain is better than our local shops. they have no clue how much this place means to the older folks who go there every week. leave us alone!
