Name: Anonymous on Nov 6, 2006Comments: Hi i am the mother of two toddlers with another one on the way, I used to work for walmart as did my fiance at one time, that is where we met, we still faithfully go to walmart on a weekly sometimes more, basis, i am always sticking up for walmart when people put the company down, i think you are doing a GRAVE injustice by doing away with your layaway plan, it may just drive people to other stores especially at holiday time. i live in pittsburgh but we worked at the walmart in exton pa, the layaway dept there was ALWAYS very busy. It really helps families that can not afford to get the gifts they want with one payment. please reconsider your decision.Flag

Name: Rita Doyle on Nov 6, 2006Comments: Many people depend on layaways as a way to purchase items that are too expensive for their current budget. By eliminating this service you are widening the gap between what the more affluent members of society and lower income people are able to obtain making the lowest income families more marginalized, I know many young mothers and fathers who lay away Christmas, birthday and special event gifts long in advance in order to be able to give something to those they love just like the plastic carrying individuals are able to do for the ones they love. please think about the people you are effecting before eliminating the gift of giving.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 6, 2006Comments: I believe that if you are going to get rid of the layaway, you need to take the customers into consideration. Not everyone can afford to pay for things immediately, not everyone has credit cards, what about those people At a time when the economy is so out of "wack", you want to slam your customers in the face by taking away the one way that many of us are able to have things for ourselves, our children, our home and our family. If you are determined to cut layaways, I think, to assist the consumer, you should have a Christmas layaway, if notihng else. It is at the holidays that many people and families need help, think of us.....Flag

It allowed my parents to make such large purchases (they had 5 kids) in a timely manner. Once the lay away program is gone they are left helpless. Wal-mart was a store thought to help out the little people but it turns out they want o help only themselves. I for one will look for other places to spend my money.Flag

Name: Jennifer Creese on Nov 6, 2006Comments: PLease don't discontinue the lay away-there are lots of folks who have no credit/bad credit and with out layaway could not 'do' christmas for their children. Walmart makes PLENTY enough money to afford the layaway department.Flag

Name: Danielle Ossman on Nov 6, 2006Comments: I don't think you should close the layway because it is needed for lots of people that have low income. Sometimes the only way for people to get items that they either need nor want. Okay, you say that you are loosing money so why don't you just open the layway for the Christmas season, when, I am sure, you get the most money. THis is just an idea because I really think you should not close the layway, it is a good way to help people.Flag

There are a lot of people who depend on this. I for one will not shop in your store again, I will be forced to shop at Kmart. As far as I know, they still have a layaway department and will be happy to have me as a customer.Flag

Name: Teresa Ley on Nov 7, 2006Comments: What do they think that they are becoming a high priced retail store and that they shouldn't be helping the ones that need things and can't come up with the money at one time If infact they discontinue layaway they will lose a condiderate amount of business especially around the holidays. I have recently visited a Walmart and they have even raised their prices. Why is thatFlag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 7, 2006Comments: I think to eliminate this plan is ridiculous! This plan has helped me to afford Christmas and budget my holiday shopping so much easier. Example...shopping on Black Friday....It allowed me to put things on layaway 1st thing in the am....therefore allowing me to catch deals at other places that do not offer layaway services......I am not a millionaire and can not afford to buy everything at the same time! This layaway plan at walmart was a blessing.....with low prices and a layaway....it made things so much easier on me with bills and christmas shopping..... if they eliminate it.....they just might eliminate me as a customer.....especially on the holidays!Flag
