Dear Channel 9,
As you hold the coverage rights for the NRL, it's only you who is responsible for the disgraceful coverage being given to Victorian viewers. Live coverage of all Melbourne games is indeed a step in the right direction, but still it's not enough. The Storm aren't the only team in Melbourne. Many people support other teams. And Storm fans like to watch other rugby league matches too - not just their respective club's game. Rugby league rates better in Melbourne than AFL does in Sydney, so don't use ratings as an excuse. Telecasting the Friday night game at 1.30am the next day, and the Sunday game at 2am Monday morning or nothing at all is an absolute joke. They don't necessarily need to be all live, as I understand Nine is merely a ratings based organisation. But put it on at reasonable times. Rugby league matches rate better than movied from the 80s. And it's not just matches either that people are unhappy about. What about the NRL Footy Show? Rugby league is one of the major sports in Victoria, only beaten by AFL. Do you seriously think that 3:45am is a reasonable time to broadcast the Footy Show, and NRL games for that matter, into a city where League is growing every second?
