Name: Kristin Boldizar on Jul 10, 2008Comments: We are from the "chicken village" of Fair Oaks California and the addition of chickens to the village in the 1960's added a quaintness and charm that landed us in People Magazine in 1990. We have also gone on the chicken tour in the Five Points neighborhood of Raleigh. It is evident that the addition of chickens to a neighborhood will add character, attract forward thinking people and possibly even raise property value as more and more people recognize the benefits of eating locally raised fresh food such as chicken eggs.Flag

Name: Sandra Mixon on Jul 10, 2008Comments: With the cost of living, please give us a break. This way we can save on eggs, have natral fretilzer,to use to grow vegatables, fruits and flowers. When you get to be my age there isn't much to enjoy that doesn' cost an arm and a leg. So most of us fall back on our grandchildern, animals and watching things grow. We have chickens and a garden,we love to watch both grow. We aren't taking athing from others,so let us have our small pleasures!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 11, 2008Comments: We area permitted to have backyard poultry where we live. It's not a problem. Most people have no complaint about them, the majority of the neighbors don't even know we have chickens. The benefits of keeping chickens far out weigh whatever excuse people can find not to have them. -KimFlag

Name: Cary E. Bachman on Jul 12, 2008Comments: I think you would have better luck with this if number of chickens reduced. For the people that are resisting this, 20 will sound like an awfully big number. Maybe start with 6 and once no trouble, petition to raise the number.Flag

Name: Noel Tate on Jul 12, 2008Comments: Urban chickens are a hug movement in the country now. Progressive cities gladly allow them because of the health and environmental benefits of raising portion of one's own food. No sensible person can offer a viable objection to chickens kept in a clean back yard coop.Flag

Name: Victoria Langer on Jul 13, 2008Comments: I think that the town ordinances should be updated every so often and this is definitely an ordinance that is no longer appropriate for Wake Forest. In the current state of the world moving toward a "greener" earth and hearing the reduce, reuse, recycle mantra everywhere, why can't people have chickens They are quieter and more "beneficial" than dogs. Please consider the request.Flag
